J-DOC MONOBLOGS ARE BACK FOR ROUND 2!

Forgive me followers, for I have sinned. It has been basically two months since my last blog. In that time, I have been basically the ANTI-J-DOC. I have gained back 9 of the 28 pounds I lost, eaten everything in sight, and had exactly ZERO in the willpower area. It is time to get back on track and you are all welcome to help me.

I will quote one of the great homerun hitters in baseball's history and say, "I am not here to talk about the past." I am only here to work on today and tomorrow, so keep me honest! Below I have re-posted the J-Doc official rules. It is the holiday season so there are going to be a few days where it is difficult to follow, but I will do my best to make it happen. Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good diet!

Re-Posting of the J-Doc Monoblogs Rules

It is time for me to get back on track, and for anyone reading this, I will allow this to become an interactive opportunity! Many of you tell me you are reading this. Feel free to comment more and make me aware that you are reading so i keep working hard!

I sometimes lack some of the willpower to make good choices! For those of you who are reading this, its time for me to give up the excuses! I will do my part to the best of my ability, but when i falter, You have full permission to destroy me for it. Call me out. Yell at me!

MY JOBS:
  1. STOP SUCKING AT LIFE!!! (My diet life, that is. Let's be honest, I'm AWESOME at the rest of life) :-D
  2. Go to grocery store and keep stocked of good, healthy foods
  3. take the time to cook instead of grabbing fast food/etc
  4. continue to hit the gym for lifting AND cardio
  5. Stop making excuses and start making right choices
  6. Follow the rules I created (below)
  7. NEVER LIE to my people who are following the blog. I will not, I promise. That would defeat the purpose.
YOUR JOBS: (if you wish to take part)
  1. Let me know if you are actually following this. The more who follow, the more apt I am to do well!
  2. If you are out with me, do not push me to eat more than I order
  3. Do not offer me your leftovers
  4. If you are out with me, you are welcome to question my choices of food and remind me that I have to make better choices!
  5. If we are out, and I am not drinking, deal with it and realize that I am fun as hell, regardless of whether or not I am drinking. Look at it this way, i can be the DD if I'm not drinking! This is an especially big one because over the past month, I have been to many bars with many people, and have drank countless glasses of water. Although some people are cool with it, many others spend too much time making me explain myself and then try to convince me to do otherwise. We are not 17. There is no peer pressure to drink. You have your beer, and I'll have my water if i choose!
  6. Yell at me if you see me making bad choices. I really don't want people to tell me I'm doing poorly, so if you do, it will motivate me to do better!!!
SOME OF MY J-DOC LIMITATIONS:
**I do not want to "Diet" in an unrealistic way. i want to try to do something i can keep up with for an extended period of time (forever). This means that I will not be forcing myself to not eat things, I just need to limit how much i have and how often i have it.
  1. Pizza: Pizza is fine. 1 slice. With or without toppings, and not more than once a day. I should not have any appetizers with that. Just the one slice.
  2. Soda: Diet only, and only if necessary.
  3. Water: 1 gallon a day is the best. Its tough in the heat because the gallon gets REALLY warm, but try my best
  4. Breakfast Sandwiches: 1-2 a week is ok, even with the Taylor Ham, BUT no bagels. Wheat toast please! And egg whites if possible
  5. Beer: Keep it to light if possible. if its at someone's house, the bud lite select 55 calorie beer is the choice.
  6. Breakfast in General: Fruit Smoothies would be the best, egg whites, Cheerios with skim milk. Breakfast should be prepared at home. No excuses. There is no need to buy breakfast, since it usually ends up being unhealthy.
  7. Evening: No late night eating. All attempts should be made to eat the last meal by 8pm and the last small snack before 9:30. TGI Fridays, Applebees, 1/2 price apps are a NO-NO. I can go, but I do not eat/drink. Stick to Water. (Maybe a salad?) I can hang out, but don't let me order my triple chocolate meltdown, boneless buffalo wings, crap like that.
  8. Snacking: 100 calorie packs are good because they are small and tasty. Salads at home are awesome, fruits veggies, etc. I always have them in the house, so I need to eat them!
  9. Frequency: I should be eating frequently and small portions. This will keep me from eating huge meals!
  10. Vacations/parties: SOMEHOW, i need to keep it contained on vacations and at parties. Limit the ridiculousness of larger/fun events. This is currently my worst.
  11. Buffets: not allowed! Under any circumstance. I will allow myself a buffet for every 10 pounds I lose, although I don't necessarily HAVE to go.
Ok, Thats all i can think of for now. I will add to the rules if I think of any. These rules have been in effect and I would like to do BETTER with it.

Hey everyone . . . .

So, I meant to put this up a week or so ago, but haven't gotten around to it. I have made an executive decision to put a temporary end to the J-Doc Monoblogs. I have not been keeping up on it and have lost interest in it a little. I am not really eating TOO well either. Kinda disappointing. Luckily, I have not gained any weight back yet. I am planning to eat better and start exercising again, but I just have not been into blogging about it. I will be back. :-)

You can certainly stay on me to make sure I'm doing well, and follow all my rules. I am just not going through the motions of writing everything on here.

october 15, day 97

DETOX DAY #1! :-)

Starting weight 197. I need to get back on track!

Today, I started off by eating NOTHING. Why? Because My body is arguing with me in a major way about the way I treated it yesterday! If my stomach was a punching bag, then yesterday, Mike Tyson was hitting it. If it were a catcher, then Rickey Henderson was stealing bases on it. If my stomach was a golf ball, i was a 3 wood.

Regardless, today, I was unable to even think about eating until around 11:30. Its funny, because I think I used to eat like this every day and it didn't really bother me, but I guess I have done so much work over the past half a year or so that I can't eat like that anymore. AWESOME!

Breakfast: Nothing
Lunch: 1/4 pound of plain cooked shrimp - 2.5 points
Bowl of fruit (Cantaloupe, melon, pineapple) - 2 points?
Dinner - Chef Salad - (15 points-ish) with lettuce, cucumbers, cheddar, chicken, ham, red onions

I know I'm a little under today, but seriously, I am still hurting from yesterday's intake! hahaha. That salad has me so stuffed! :-)

October 14, day 96

Starting weight - 196

Ok everyone, I am officially off the wagon. HELP ME!!!!!! Today was about as bad as its been in awhile. Lets re-cap . . . . . . .

***side note, this was a MASSIVE slice of pizza and my voice of reason sister, Karen told me I have to count it as a double slice. I tried to argue, but she would not budge! I guess that is the whole point of this blog thing, but it still sucks. Thats 2 less s'mores that I can have later!

Late night - ok, so went to Julie and Wes's for the Wesley Birthday. I was not really a good boy. I had 3 cupcakes and 2 s'mores. The good news is that i did not drink at all, except for almost the entire gallon of my water! :-). . . . . . . . preview of tomorrow's blog . . . I LOST WEIGHT hahaha

October 8, day 91

Starting weight - 194! Lowest since 2003 (first year of grad school)

Breakfast - Smoothie (4 points)
Snack - 100 calorie pack goldfish (2 points)
Lunch - 1 slice of Buffalo Chicken Pizza (10 points)
I REALLY was planning on having a salad, but went with people to the wrong pizzeria and I did not like their choices of salads, so I got 1 slice of pizza instead. ARGH.

Dinner - I went to Cresskill Pizza and had my salad . Chef Salad with lettuce, Cucumbers, cheddar, grilled chicken, turkey, ham, vinegar and red onions. It was glorious. Also had some bread.
(12 points)

Late night - was REALLY hurting, came home and binged a little on chips (6 points) and a 100 calorie pack (2 points) Immediately felt better. I gotta eat more than just a salad before a long night at work!!!!!

TOTAL For the day: 36 points

Breakfast - a few swigs of Orange juice. (was just not hungry this morning!)

lunch - Shrimp in hot sauce - (3 points)
Cantaloupe and strawberries - (0 points)
1/2 G2 Gatorade (.5 point)
Hamburger with bun - (10 Points)
Snack - granola Bar - (2 points)
Dinner - Soup - chicken/sausage gumbo (5 points)
Late Night - Hooters with some music teacher friends. I had 5 small lite beers - (7 points) (which is really like 3 beers) and a bowl of chili. (6 points) and 4 tater tots. (2 points?)Pretty good, I'd say!

Total Points today - 39. A little over, but still a good day. wow, that freaking hamburger screwed me over!!!!!!! Or the beers. One of the two. Regardless, I still think it was decent, considering i would have had wings, a buffalo chicken sandwich and fries normally at hooters, and yeungling instead of bud light.

Dinner - 2 pork chops with lots of seasonings - (6 points) forgot to check, but i think this is about right.
Snack - I have 12-16 points to play with here. I am choosing to use them on Tostitos and pizza dip to celebrate the first yankee playoff game. i may over do it a little, but eh, I did pretty awesome all day!!!

I'm thinking about doing weight watchers points . . . . . . . . . Supposedly I should be allowed about 30-34 points a day. I can do better than that I think. .. when i was in college, i did 24-27 points a day. Here goes ... .

Breakfast - dunkin donuts turkey bacon egg white flatbread - 7 points
snack - 100 calorie rice krispie treat - 2 points
lunch - chicken rice soup - 4 points
Snack - granola Bar - 2 points
2 potato chips (I'm not counting this! They were baked ruffles, sour cream and cheddar.
Glorious!)
Dinner - 4 oz shrimp with hot sauce - 4 points
Snack - serving of the potato chips - 2 points
Late Night - went to the Cloverleaf with Chris Pelletier and Wayne. I was a good boy, only had 2 beers and 1 pulled pork quesadilla. 3+3+3

TOTAL POINTS: 30 points.

went back to gym finally! did 19 sets, upper body + 60 abs. Also played 3 games of racquetball with Scott. Got my ass handed to me, but good exercise for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

snack - the cooking class was making sandwiches, and they brought me taylor ham with eggs on toast. I had to eat it! :-)

snack - well, the cooking class made lasagna, and each table asked me to sample ;-)
snack - ok, i am a bad boy today - grande double chocolatey chip blended creme, skim milk, no whipped creme from starbucks and a reduced fat cinnamon swirl cake.

Lunch - well, I really like turkey meatballs, so i thought I would take it one step further and have veggie meatballs. NEVER AGAIN. that was horrendous! OMG! It smelled terrible and tasted ridiculous. I tried! Regardless, ended up having peanut butter on wheat bread, rice cakes and broccoli.

Snack - i don't remember, but i'm sure i had a 100 cal pack or two

Dinner - Quiznos- turkey chipotle flatbread (tasty, and small) with chicken noodle soup and baked lays. Water to drink.

snack - cucumber slices and 2 small brownie bites.

on a side note, there is an AMAZING concert going on at my school. I just ran away for 2 seconds to write this, since i was in the hallway talking to some of the musicians. The Cresskill Education Foundation puts on this fundraising concert for the arts every year. Professional musicians from Cresskill come and perform all sorts of pieces . . . . . broadway showtunes, horn concertos, small orchestras, viola/violin duets, beautiful flute playing, piano solos, wow. GREAT stuff. You should all try to come next year!

Snack - I had wine and crackers after the concert.

September 26 - Day 79

Forgive me bloggers, for I have sinned. It has been 12 days since my last confession.

Just writing to say hello and sorry that I have neglected you all! The past 2 weeks have been rough. I was sick 2 weeks ago and this past week I just had trouble getting back on track with the blgging, but I'M BACK!

I have run into a few people who told me they have been following, and I was even yelled at by my good buddy Ryan Krewer for basically sucking a couple weeks ago. Since then, I have been to the supermarket, been eating my salads, smoothies, better choices, and actually lost a few pounds. That being said, I also have broken my pizza rule 4-5 times, by eating 2 slices. I lost my way there. Today, I actually had 3 slices, BUT that was really all I ate, as I was recovering from last night's trip to AC for Mikey Sops' bachelor party. Lets talk about that . . . . . .

We went to Carmines for Dinner at the Tropicana. WOW. It was AWESOME! There were 10 of us. The menu (of which I did eat from each of the following included:)
  • Regular bread (the free bread)
  • Garlic Bread
  • Fried Calamari
  • Lasagna
  • Chicken Parmesan
  • Some kind of Veal (I never had veal before!)
  • Penne Vodka
  • Caesar Salad (I did not have this, as I think the caesar dressing is too unhealthy) ;-)
  • meatballs
  • Sam Adams Oktoberfest
Yeah, it was a feast and a half. The rest of the night was a scotch night - - - - - It was going to be beer, but Iapicca inspired me.

Regardless, good times, good food, bad gambling (Congrats to Dave and Delano for having a much better craps session than me!)

I also must apologize for mis-stating my buffet rule last night - - - its not 1 buffet a month, its 1 buffet for each 10 pounds I lose, So i am currently on line to have my next buffet after I lose 6 more pounds. (Although 1 per month would be more fun!)

Anyway, I will get back on track and be updating you all daily. See you then!

TODAY, Is a very intriguing day! I have reached the 1/2 way point. In my quest to drop (and keep off) 50 pounds, this morning, I woke up half way there. Since April 27, I have lost 25 pounds.

Breakfast - coffee cake and red bull. WHat a way to maintain weight! haha. I was late to work, had to grab something QUICK and was exhausted

Snack - 100 calorie pack sandies

Lunch - progresso soup - something with beef and 1 chicken finger

snack - 100 calorie pack oreos cakesters

Dinner - 1 slice of sausage pizza

Late night - Monday NIght Football, WEEK 1!!!! Not a good night for J-DOC though
20 wings and 3 beers. I guess I have done worse in my life at wing night, but eh ... . . gonna jump up a few pounds today probably. Its ok though.

Night time - after Gig with Zwiebel, went to Sharky's with Tim. He bought me two beers. I came home and had a spiked gatorade :-)

september 11, day 64

Starting weight - 199

Breakfast - 1/2 of 12 inch sub from quick chek - on wheat roll with turkey, pepperoni and yellow american.

lunch - 1/2 of 12 inch sub from quick chek - on what roll with turkey, pepperoni and yellow american

snack - 100 calorie pack

dinner - 1 slice of buffalo chicken pizza from Cresskill Pizza

september 10, day 63

So today, i broke many of my own rules, but still managed to lose weight! :-) Here's my story:

Starting weight - 200

breakfast - Rule Break #1 - 711 (did not eat or prepare food at home) i had 2 donuts and a slurpee. Not good. But its early, so I can live with it.

Lunch - Rule Break #2 - Cresskill Pizza - 1 slice of Buffalo Chicken pizza, 1 slice of Chicken with Vodka sauce pizza (first time I have had 2 slices of pizza since I started blogging (I think . . . . maybe 2nd)

snack - 100 calorie pack at some point

Dinner - went to 711, my throat hurt, so I got a crystal lite slurpee and 1 chicken finger

Snack - 3 musketeers bar (was hoping to get real food, but they had nothing) and a gatorade.

After game - stopped at 711 for a 3rd time - - - - got a gatorade and a buffalo chicken taquito.

And that is the story of how i broke many rules and ended up losing 1 lb, since the next day, i was 199 :-)

september 6-7-8-9, days 60-61-62-63 - gafiltafish!

Hey everyone! I'm Back! Sorry, been a few days since I have checked in. I'll try to remember whatever I can!

Today -
September 9, 2010
Starting weight - 198
Breakfast - I actually didn't have breakfast, got to sleep in!
Lunch - hamburger on lite bun with bbq sauce
100 calorie pack snack
Dinner: OOH, I love when Brody invites me over for the Jewish holidays! His mom cooks the best stuff! we had brisket and baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. Started off with some bread and crackers, and chicken noodle soup.
I tried 2 new things today. 1) chopped liver. Not a fan, but I had 2 bites on a cracker and lived. 2) Gafiltafish. (however you spell that) yeah, had a tiny bite on a half a cracker. needed 2 1/2 crackers and a piece of bread just to swallow it. Never again! :-) everything else was GREAT!

Starting weight - 200
this was a weird day, I really didn't have much time to eat, so it was a 100 calorie pack fiesta!
Throughout the day, I had 5-6 of them. one for a breakfast snack, one with lunch, 2 for snacks between lunch and dinner, one "for dinner" as i was running, and one after band. They were spread out, not the healthiest thing in the world, but good portion control at least.
On top of that, I had

Lunch: can of progresso hearty vegetable soup
After Band - buffalo chicken taquito and slurpee

September 7, 2010

dinner - spicy sausage on lite bun
Today was my first rehearsal with the FUN BUNCH as an official member. Had a great time. Great musicians, fun music, and a really enjoyable bone section to sit in.
Afterwards, I met up with Scott for an hour of racquetball. I actually won this time, but he was just coming off a long workout, so I had a little of a break!

September 6, 2010

Labor Day - gotta try to do better today!
breakfast - don't remember, but it was small.
Lunch - Spicy sausage on lite bun
Gym - Back and Bis - 18 sets, 200 abs, 10 laps in the pool
Dinner - eek, made the dip for me and Julie. Had 2/3 of a bag of tostitos and a bunch of the pizza dip. It was amazing, and it was all I ate for dinner. Really filled me up too!

September 5 - day 59

Starting weight - 202 (after breakfast)

Breakfast - woke up and came home. Took a wrong turn, so I bought Brody Starbucks to make up for it. I had the grande double chocolatey chip blended creme, skim milk no whipped. Say THAT 5 times fast! I also then had a reduced fat cinnamon swirl cake. It was glorious!

For lunch, hmmmm, did I eat lunch? I think maybe I Just had 2 100 calorie packs waiting for my bbq to start

Dinner/Snacks/etc: Well, i ate a lot, but it was progressive throughout the day. First off I drank diet soda all day, so I was a good boy there! As far as food, Here's what i ended up having:
  • Pizza dip with tostito scoops
  • brody's concoction of potatoes with hot sauce, bbq sauce and other stuff (glorious)
  • corn on the cob
  • 1 hamburger, plain - lite bun
  • 1 hot dog, plain - lite bun
  • 1 chicken drumstick
  • more pizza dip :-)
wow, actually, I thought i did worse. Maybe I'll think about more that I ate later. I'm sure of it!

I gotta put out my thanks and props to Tricia Fitz for the pizza dip recipe. i want to make it again, RIGHT NOW! ;-)

yeah, also had 3 twice baked potato skins made by Janel :-)

September 4, day 58

Starting weight - 199

SLEPT IN TODAY, so i weighed myself a little late, but it is when i woke up! :-)
Breakfast/Lunch - 1 bowl of cheerios in skim milk,
5 small turkey meatballs with marinara on whole wheat bun

GYM: - Did shoulders (12 sets) and Legs (19 sets) as well as 400 abs. Went with Brody and did some new exercises. Good stuff.

Snack - Mixed fruit/banana/OJ smoothie

Dinner/Snacks/Late night: Went to Jill's partay tonight in NY State. had a lot of beers and 2 shots. It was bud Select 55, though, which is better, since its only 55 calories each. Also, they grilled, so I opted for the turkey burger and the turkey dog, on the "healthy" rolls. Although, Turkey dogs are nasty, so I'm done with that! hahahaha
I overate on the crackers and buffalo chicken dip, as well as doritos and cheeseballs, but i guess overall, i didn't do THAT bad.

September 3, day 57

Starting weight - 199

Breakfast - 1 bowl of cheerios with skim milk
Snack - Peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bun
Lunch - ham sandwich on whole wheat bun
Snack - 100 calorie pack
Dinner - went a little overboard. Was the first teacher happy hour. That being said, i did better than i USUALLY would have in this situation.

We were at Tommy Foxes in Bergenfield. I needed dinner, but didn't want to spend a lot. I got the Buffalo Chicken Fingers. There were 4 of them, it was good enough. Then as soon as it arrived, i found out that they were having the free buffet bbq outside! This is when it got crazy. BUT I was pretty good. All i had was a small BBQ chicken kebob, a tiny piece of bbq chicken, a hamburger and a corn on the cob. Also had 5 beers.

I ended up coming home and passing out for a nap, only to wake up at 6am, to my SCHOOL ALARM, very confused and not sure what day it was (Saturday!)

After I almost got up and started to shower for work, i realized that it was Saturday, responded to all my Saturday night texts, and forced back to sleep. Funny cuz I told my friends at happy hour how sometimes that happened, and BANG, it happened! ARGH. Sucks, i was supposed to go out with Oppy . . . . . . BOOOOOO!

September 2 - day 56

Starting Weight - 201

OK . . . . . woke up on time today! WAHOO! 6am, rise and shine! First day of school time!

Breakfast - 1 bowl of cheerios with skim milk
lunch - my chef Salad - which is my regular salad (lettuce, cucumber, chick peas, cheddar shredded cheese, bacon bits, another weird topping, croutons) and add to it some turkey and ham cold cuts. 2 slices of each. DELIGHTFUL. :-)

snack - 100 calorie pringles
snack - 100 calorie toast-cheez

Dinner - medium slurpee, 1 taquito and 1 chicken finger.

Snack - Overdid it a little bit with the chocolate cookies & Cream ice cream, but overall, a decent day. Haven't decided if I'm going to the gym tonight or not. Its currently 8:30. I'm watching football. I have lots of school work to do. AND I'm sitting in the air conditioning . . . . . . . . .

Ok, I went to the gym with Scott and played some intense racquetball! he won 3 of the 4 games, but it was pretty awesome exercise.

Then went to NYC at 11:30 to hang with Pete and some friends. Went to the karaoke bar (3 beers) and then to a huka bar (however you spell that) Got home at 3:30, to take a nap and go to work :-)

Drank a whole gallon today of the water . Trying to get back on that kick.

September 1 - day 55

WELL, i woke up really late today (although its the earliest I've gotten up in 2 months!) which is why i must start with:

STARTING WEIGHT - UNKNOWN.

Wanted to be at school to practice by 7am, then we had 8am gathering for first day of work. I woke up at 7:40. OOPS. I set the time for my alarm but never turned the alarm on!!! Regardless, I was up and out of the house in like 5 minutes, which leads me to:

BREAKFAST - bagel with butter. (Sorry, I know, but i had no choice really)

So I also had no time to make lunch, so i grabbed some leftovers, but it was the first day of work. Did you REALLY think I was gonna eat by myself? Which leads me t0:

LUNCH - 1 slice of BBQ chicken pizza topped with Buffalo Sauce. (still sticking to my 1 slice rule)

Throughout the day, i need to snack, so i have a bag of 100 calorie packs to hold me over. I had one. Don't remember which one.

I ended up doing paperwork and setting up at work til after 8pm. Still hadn't eaten dinner, but wanted to get it in before 9. I realized that i had brought those leftovers from the Olive Garden, which brings me to:

DINNER - 1 serving of the penne with 5 cheese marinara and sausage/chicken. I was a little weak and snacked on a TINY donut and 1/3 of a piece of crumb cake.

I came home and was motivated to go to the gym. Why was I so motivated? I swear, probably 8-10 people today told me how it looked like I had lost a considerable amount of weight over the summer. It was very motivating, since I was not sure if it was even really noticeable at this point. SO, instead of going to Applebees with everyone else, I went to the gym and did my

CHEST/TRICEPS workout. 19 sets worth. then 350 abs.

Overall, it was a good day. Got a lot done, got to the gym, didn't eat the BEST foods, but certainly didn't overeat.

Here's to hoping I wake up on time tomorrow!

August 31 - day 54

Starting weight - 200

Breakfast - Smoothie
Snack - 100 calorie pack
Lunch - peanut butter sandwich on light wheat
Snack - 100 calorie pack
Dinner - GORGED at olive Garden. Sue Kim is here from Korea and that's where she wanted to go, so her, Oppy and I went. Had 2 breadsticks, one bowl of pasta fagioli (NOT VERY GOOD), then a plate of whole wheat linguini with 3 meat sauce and 2 meatballs. THEN a plate of penne with 5 cheese marinara sauce topped with italian sausage and chicken. OH MY GOD. UNLIMITED PASTA $10 and add meat for $3 is deadly!

I really did plan on eating better that meal! oops. . . . . . .

Late night - 2 glasses of orange juice

August 30 - Day 53

hmmmmm, this one is gonna be tough to remember.

but i went to the gym!
did back and biceps. 15 sets. Then got killed by scott in racketball for 2 games and had 2 tight games with Pete. Then i passed out.

I really have NO idea what I ate though, but i think i did well. Sorry. 3 days late on this one!

August 29 - day 52

Today was fantasy Draft Day #1. I was a good boy. I had a TON of leftover food from Fitz's party, but i only ate a little of it. Instead I had a salad :-) Be impressed!

August 28 - Day 51

Starting weight - 201 :-(

Breakfast - I don't remember if i had anything, maybe a 100 calorie pack

Lunch - a hot dog

Dinner - OH MY, This is not a pretty picture . . . . . .Although, the food was awesome at Brian Fitz's surprise 30th birthday, so I had to go for it:
cheese and crackers (way too many) THEN I discovered Pizza dip. OH MY GOD. It was amazing, and a terrible idea! hahaha. Had about a million tostito scoops with the dip. Some pringles also. For actual dinner, i had a piece of fried chicken, raviolis, 4 mini meatballs, about 6 mini shrimp in butter sauce and some broccoli.

Dessert/drinks: Overall, had 3 beers and then 2 pieces of ice cream cake.
Night: 2 beers and a flask of blackhaus

August 27 - day 50

Starting weight - 198! I cracked 200, and quickly began the FAILURE that is today!

Breakfast was a simple 100 calorie pack. Things were looking just fine.

Lunch - 1/2 sandwich with roast beef, mayo, cheese and carmelized onions. A few chips and I was on my way to a great day!

Snack - 100 calorie Pack

Dinner - - - - - EEK! I could not tell you a total #, but I must have had about 2000 calories worth of ravioli. Scott and i just went bananas. I was probably worse. This was one of my worst binges in recent history. I knew what i was doing and i could not stop it!

Exercise: We promptly went to play racquetball for 1 hour and 15 minutes. We could barely move. It was not the brightest move, but i figured hey, work off some of that garbage (glorious garbage) that I just ate.

Late night - Hoboken with Brody Rachel and Megan. I could not resist while I watched everyone else eat pizza, so I got the "Meat Packer Pizza." now only 1 slice, so thats good, but i was already full and it was 11:30 at night! I also had 3 beers and 3 shots.

I epically failed from 7:30pm on. I finally cracked 200 and i jumped right back up. Gonna have to do GREAT tomorrow.

August 26 - day 49

Starting weight - 200!

Breakfast - granola bar
Lunch - turkey, pepperoni, cheese on wheat roll
snack - 100 calorie pack
dinner - 1 Slice of pizza! (this was REALLY tough. it was our end of band camp pizza party and i usually eat about 5 slices at this. I limited to ONE and had no chips and no cookies!!!!! I am the man!)
Snack - medium slurpee and buffalo chicken taquito.

Night: 2 beers with Scott and 2 shots at the Harp (1 from my flask that Pete got me in Vegas that says "Vegas Pimp" . . . hehehe)

** Had a lot of slurpees this week because my voice is SHOT after band camp with no microphone. I took too long to send in my system for repair cuz I am an idiot. In return, i needed Slurpees to help me out in the throat tiredness**

Regardless, I'm doing well! hoping to get the fruits and veggies back in the diet starting tomorrow.

I kinda like this pizza dinner diet. HAHAHAHA. i mean, i get to eat pizza EVERY night, and i still lose weight! I may have found something here. :-)

Baseball game day!

i actually lost a pound at the bbq? crazy!

Dinner - 12 inch sub from quik check - turkey, pepperoni and cheese on wheat roll and large gatorade
snack - corn dog at the game

not the best, but not too bad. rough day to diet. Think i did fairly well again.

August 14 - day 37

Well, it was BBQ day, so i can't really remember to write down EVERYTHING. But to be honest, I did pretty well.

STARTING WEIGHT: 204

Had a starbucks in the morning and then a little picking from the buffet - a piece of chicken, a drumstick, some ziti, some sausage peppers and onions.
Had a few beers and a couple of mixed drinks (with diet soda)
All in all, i did fairly well.
I opted OUT of the hot dog eating contest so i would not be eating 5 hot dogs in like 2 minutes. i thought that was a wise idea.

AWESOME TIME by the way. about 120 people. Great music, great food, great fun! Year 9 - IN THE BOOKS!

dinner - 1 slice of pizza - Penne Vodka topping.
NOW - lets talk about this meal. I had made a salad and put it in the refrigerator at school. When i went to get it out of the fridge, the office was locked. Then i had to wait til like 9pm to eat. At that point, i just had to get something in my system. BUT the remarkable thing happened there. I was with Julie Passaro and she was the first person to successfully stop me from getting too much. I was seriously contemplating getting a 2nd slice of Buffalo chicken pizza, because its so glorious. She yelled at me. Instead, i was allowed one bite of her ziti pizza and that was it. I don't know if i REALLY would have gotten it, but i was not even allowed to think about it. I left, content and full. (but without my buffalo chicken fix)

Snack - Mac & Cheese homemade by my sister. She failed at her job, and kept watching me eat MORE and MORE of it. but it was not tooooooo much.

LAter in the evening, after our band rehearsal, my sister offered everyone a Klondike bar. I gave her a dirty look and accepted only a can of lemon-lime flavored seltzer. I proceeded to kill the time while everyone else was digging into their delightful dessert by looking at a freaking photo album. This is what life has come to. Seltzer and scrapbooks. Its a good thing I was strong. All 3 of those jabronis were sinking their teeth into this chocolate and ice cream goodness of perfection and i have my least favorite flavored seltzer. Regardless, I am a strong man. :-)

Breakfast: 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg - Scrambled
Lunch: Homemade Smoothie - OJ, Strawberries, 2/3 banana
Snack - 100 calorie pack - Ritz bits w/cheese
Dinner - My Salad! This includes: Lettuce, Cheddar Cheese, Chick Peas, Cucumbers, Bacon
Bits, Croutons, Red Wine Vinegar. GLORIOUS
Snack: Burger King - DON'T YOU GET ON ME YET UNTIL YOU READ WHAT I HAD:
Grilled Chicken Sandwich and a bottle of water.

Let me tell you that I had to get that sandwich. When I change my eating drastically, its like a smoker getting off cigarettes or similar to that. I get headaches and stuff the first day or two. I realized that i really didn't actually eat anything of real substance today, and BK was the only place within walking distance to the DCI show that Brody and I were seeing. Therefore, be VERY impressed with my choice of food for the night!

Starting weight: 212 . . . . . . I knew this one was coming. And I am still paying for my final binge last night, but today was a start

Lunch: 1 egg, 2 egg whites scrambles

GYM: 300 abs, back and biceps, 4 games of racquetball

Dinner: Hot Turkey on Wheat bread with gravy (kinda was a large sandwich)
Baked potato with ketchup

small cup of chicken rice soup
Water: so far - 1/2 gallon. Will update if i do more.

So dinner was a little large, but i had barely eaten anything. not good to eat largest meal at end of day BUT i was so stuffed and everything from last night's eating, that i really wasn't hungry until dinner.

OK, LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS!

OK . . . . . . so, I am about 1 month into this debacle and where am I? Nowhere really. I have not lost any weight, I have not really eaten any better, and I pretty much have just been broadcasting my failures to everyone. I have had a few comments from a few people. A few motivators, and one person who straight up called me out (and was right! Thanks, by the way.)

It is time for me to get serious, and for anyone reading this, I will allow this to become an interactive opportunity!

I am lacking some of the willpower to make good choices during the summer, because we seem to go out a lot, late at night, especially, and I have been vacationing a ton! For those of you who are reading this, its time for me to give up the excuses! I will do my part to the best of my ability, but when i falter, You have full permission to destroy me for it. Call me out. Yell at me!

  1. STOP SUCKING AT LIFE!!! (My diet life, that is. Let's be honest, I'm AWESOME at the rest of life) :-D
  2. Go to grocery store and keep stocked of good, healthy foods
  3. take the time to cook instead of grabbing fast food/etc
  4. continue to hit the gym for lifting AND cardio
  5. Stop making excuses and start making right choices
  6. Follow the rules I created (below)
  7. NEVER LIE to my people who are following the blog. I will not, I promise. That would defeat the purpose.
YOUR JOBS: (if you wish to take part)

  2. If you are out with me, do not push me to eat more than I order
  3. Do not offer me your leftovers
  4. If you are out with me, you are welcome to question my choices of food and remind me that I have to make better choices!
  5. If we are out, and I am not drinking, deal with it and realize that I am fun as hell, regardless of whether or not I am drinking. Look at it this way, i can be the DD if I'm not drinking! This is an especially big one because over the past month, I have been to many bars with many people, and have drank countless glasses of water. Although some people are cool with it, many others spend too much time making me explain myself and then try to convince me to do otherwise. We are not 17. There is no peer pressure to drink. You have your beer, and I'll have my water if i choose!
  6. Yell at me if you see me making bad choices. I really don't want people to tell me I'm doing poorly, so if you do, it will motivate me to do better!!!
SOME OF MY J-DOC LIMITATIONS:
**I do not want to "Diet" in an unrealistic way. i want to try to do something i can keep up with for an extended period of time. This means that I will not be forcing myself to not eat things, I just need to limit how much i have and how often i have it.
  1. Pizza: Pizza is fine. 1 slice. With or without toppings, and not more than once a day. I should not have any appetizers with that. Just the one slice.
  2. Soda: Diet only, and only if necessary.
  3. Water: 1 gallon a day is the best. Its tough in the heat because the gallon gets REALLY warm, but try my best
  4. Breakfast Sandwiches: 1-2 a week is ok, even with the Taylor Ham, BUT no bagels. Wheat toast please! And egg whites if possible
  5. Beer: Keep it to light if possible. if its at someone's house, the bud lite select 55 calorie beer is the choice.
  6. Breakfast in General: Fruit Smoothies would be the best, egg whites, Cheerios with skim milk. Breakfast should be prepared at home. No excuses. There is no need to buy breakfast
  7. Evening: No late night eating. All attempts should be made to eat the last meal by 8pm and the last small snack before 9:30. TGI Fridays, Applebees, 1/2 price apps are a NO-NO. I can go, but I do not eat/drink. Stick to Water. (Maybe a salad?) I can hang out, but don't let me order my triple chocolate meltdown, boneless buffalo wings, crap like that.
  8. Snacking: 100 calorie packs are good because they are small and tasty. Salads at home are awesome, fruits veggies, etc. I always have them in the house, so I need to eat them!
  9. Frequency: I should be eating frequently and small portions. This will keep me from eating huge meals!
  10. Vacations: SOMEHOW, i need to keep it contained on vacations. I have the BBQ/Baseball extravaganza to worry about and cousins weekend the week after that. Events like these are when i tend to falter. Limit the ridiculousness of larger/fun events.
  11. Buffets: not allowed! Under any circumstance. I will allow myself a buffet for every 10 pounds I lose starting tomorrow, although I don't necessarily HAVE to go.
Ok, Thats all i can think of for now. I will add to the rules if I think of any. These rules go into effect at 7am, Saturday morning, August 7, 2010. Lets get to it!

August 6 - day 29

Breakfast - Taylor Ham/scrambled egg on bagel
Lunch - Personal pizza from pizza Hut
Snack - Cinnabon and a red bull.

ok, so i've been dreading this for a week, I come home and get on the scale, after that disgrace of a breakfast/lunch and i'm at 211, WHICH MEANS, I started the day at 209 or maybe even better! (knowing how my body weighs in before/after certain types of food) which means I maintained on that vacation, even through ALL THE CRAP i ate. Was I good, no. I was VERY BAD. but I can use this to my advantage.

I will finish out today and get on tomorrow. read my next blog for details on that . . . . .

dinner: I like to call this one "The Last Supper" Buffalo Wild Wings - 12 wings, boneless. THEN Cheesecake Factory - 3 Fried mac and Cheese Balls.
Nite: 1 drink and one shot.

By the way - went to Dave & Busters. Was a ton of fun. Played lots of games and for a reasonable cost! Definitely can do that again :-)

August 5 - day 28

Breakfast - Jersey Burger, gatorade (I think i had a bunch of gatorades all week that I did not write down cuz i forgot about them)

Lunch - MIDWAY!! Last day at hte beach, had to finally get midway. Cheese steak and fries and a gatorade.

Dinner - ASBURY PARK! Nice surprise, there was a concert band playing right in front of the restaurant we ate at, one the boardwalk. And our friend Gerry was playing there, a buddy from Imperial Brass. OK, I will stop putting this off . . . . . . Fried Green beans w/buffalo sauce, Jersey Burger and sweet potato fries.

I must add one of the more glorious nights I have spent in awhile was tonight in Asbury park. We went to the PINBALL MUSEUM! $15 - all you can play pinball! I played pinball for 4 hours straight. old games, new games, broken games . . . . games all the way back to 1920! Attack from mars, Elvis, Addam's Family, Simpsons, Cyclone, oh man, that's just the beginning! BUT the highlight of the night, was making it to my top goal of the evening, eclipsing a high score on a machine. I did it on the "JUNGLE KING" machine, from the late 70's. Old record was 117,000 points. I took that down and put up a new score of over 224,000 points! My name is now on the machine for all to see. WAHOO! WOW, I love pinball.

August 4 - Day 27

Breakfast - Jersey burger, 16 cheeseballs
Lunch - donut and munchkins from D.D.
Dinner - Chicken Marsala, egg noodles (3 servings), corn on the cob. (nice cooking pete draney!)

Nite: Pt. Pleasant Boardwalk - KOHR'S - Large peanut butter/chocolate swirl w/sprinkles
Power House, and then some . . . . . . this will conclude my drinking binge for the summer. It was vacation, so we had some fun)

August 3 - Day 26

Breakfast: Jersey Burger - (Taylor ham, hamburger, roll), 2 slices of yellow american and 16 cheeseballs

Lunch: Buffalo Chicken Steak sandwich (kinda small)

Dinner: Jersey Burger

Nite: BEAT THE CLOCK - BAR-A in Belmar. Enough Said
Nite part 2: ok, this was unacceptable, but hey its once a year. BELMAR PIZZA!!! The legen- - - - wait for it - - - - - - DARY Macaroni and Cheese slice of pizza. In addition, 2 slices of buffalo Chicken Pizza.

**side note** DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT try to go to Bar-A with the Burger King mask on. It will not work. You will get reprimanded and you will have to take it off, so don't bother. I will keep you posted on what other bars think as the King will make various appearances at random in local NJ bars. Beware of the king!

august 1 - day 24

Breakfast: cinnamon donut

Lunch: turkey on burger roll. 3 slices of yellow american.

Dinner: 1 slice plain pizza, sprite.

Snack: small ice cream with chocolate sprinkles from kohrs.

Late Night: Went to TIKI BAR to see Timmy J play with his band, Don't Call Me Francis. They were pretty awesome, not gonna lie. ended up having a fair amount of drinks. Wasn't planning on it, but then TIm hooked me up with $3 drink coupons, which is HUGE cuz a glass of scotch there was $14 and an LIT was like $11 or something like that. Anyway, I also had a slice of plain pizza and called it a night.

july 31 - day 23

First full day of vacation.

Starting weight: unknown

Breakfast: cinnamon dunut
Lunch: turkey sandwich on hamburger roll and 4 little cheeseballs
Dinner: 1 slice of pizza with pepperoni and sausage.also a sprite and A little bit of funnel cake.

Then, 4 hours later, all hell broke loose!

I had a beer and then we did a power hour. Followed by a binge of cheeseballs, maybe 100 of them little buggers. 2 slices of yellow american also.

Then off to the boardwalk. 1 slice of plain pizza and a small kohr's ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. Aaaahhhh!!!!

I guess in the end, it coulda been worse, I skipped the fried oreos and sodas and 2nd slice of pizza, and fries, but eek. Tok a good day and destroyed it in 2 hours. Oh well. I try again tomorrow :)

july 30 - day 22

Hey everybody! I sent my first blog from my blackberry at Ortley Beach! We have no internet here so hopefully this will work :)

This is of course yesterday's report. Today is the official 1st day of vacation.

Breakfast: at noon: 1/3 of my chicken kebob from 6 bros.

GYM: full body workout, 200 abs, 30 minutes elliptical.

Lunch (late!!!) 1/3 chicken kebob and 1/2 bag of my sisters mac and cheese. (Had to make sure I ate boith before leaving for vacation!

Snack: cocktail hour. Omg! Played a wedding tonite. Food was amazing! I ate a decent amount but I def held back. 2 small plates including penne vodka, pork, chicken and shrimp.

Dinner: 1 piece of chicken and a little fettucini alfredo.

Snack: ice cream w/chocolate sauce and reeses pieces. Tiny zeppoles.

1 beer when I got to ortley to signify the start of vacation.
Ok, so not the best evening but let's be honest, I'm on vacation. I just need to tread water here til I get back without gaining 5 pounds. 2.5 weeks til band camp and being back on a schedule. Wish me luck.

july 29 - Day 21

Starting weight - 207

GYM: YEAH, DIDN'T HAPPEN. haha

Breakfast: 7-11 - Red Bull, 1 donut, and a buffalo chicken taquito
Lunch: HOT GRILL! - Plain Burger, Hot dog with just sauce, fries with gravy.
OK . . . let me put in a disclaimer. I HAD to go there for something I'm trying to work out
with them. it was my 2nd time stopping in and the guy i needed to talk to was not around.
I had to eat something!

Dinner: BUFFET at Somer's gig. i only had one full plate though and 2 pieces of bread. No dessert :-)
Snack: JERSEY SHORE PREMIER PARTY - I actually had a bunch of beers and a few shots. I also ate somewhere between 8-12 mini pizza bagels. WOW they are so much better in the toaster oven than in the microwave!!!

What did I consciously cut out of diet today: '
I probably, believe it or not, would have eaten more chips/cake/etc at the party and usually would have gone up for 2nds and dessert at the gig. I also ALWAYS get a 2nd hot dog with sauce at hot grill, but stopped myself. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but i really had to stop myself.

GYM: I was dressed and ready to go, but had to wait for the TOW TRUCK, since my car broke down.

Lunch: Salad bar and Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Rice (Charlie Browns)

Dinner: Chicken Kebob (1/3 of it) from 6 brothers and 4 sprites

What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
Went to the Cliff at night and REALLY wanted mozzarella Sticks, but i held back. It was pretty impressive actually :-) Also stuck to the water

July 27 - Day 19

Starting weight - 210 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Back on track after my epic fail. Here we go!

GYM: well the thought was there, but the body was not. oh well

Breakfast: Turkey sausage/egg white flatbread (dunkin donuts)
Lunch: Medium Sub roll with turkey, pepperoni and yellow america
Dinner: 3 slices of Bruno's Square w/meatballs

What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
Well, i normally would have had a taylor ham/egg on a bagel for breakfast, 2 slices of topping pizza for lunch and probably snacked on a 4th slice of bruno's late night. So i actually did pretty well today.

July 18 - July 26 - - - -

EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I did not exactly do my best work here. I was keeping track until I had a chance to get on here, but I got lazy. Regardless, it was a 9 day stretch of over-eating, binge eating, lots of buffalo sauce, late nite destruction of the stomach, heart-burn, and weight gain! In there were trips to Cleveland and Detroit, 2 birthdays, a grand opening celebration, a large poker game with Brody wings, and just plain fun! Here are some of the food highlights:

Eric's B'day - Chicken parm, cheese, crackers, italian bread, spaghetti, brownies
Some random night - Applebees: Boneless buffs and triple chocolate meltdown
Night before trip: TGI Friday's - Boneless buffs and fried green beans (midnight)
Drive to Detroit - KFC Dinner - chicken meal (crappy) including mac & cheese + 2 snacker
Cleveland - Hard Rock Cafe - Mac & Cheese + chicken and an order of fries. It was awesome! As well as splitting the appetizer sampler with the boyz, including wings, spring rolls, and two other things that I can't think of right now.

ok, so you get the point. I did BAD. Brought myself up to 210 in the time but i am a believer. I'm back tomorrow! WAHOO!!!!!

woke up late and went to gym to play racquetball for 1.5 hours

july 16 - day 8

Starting weight - 210 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

So i can eat great for a week, screw up on day, and weigh MORE than i started? wow. What a pain this is!

GYM: Chest and Triceps. 30 minutes elliptical

Breakfast:nothing - woke up late
Lunch: SALAD!!!! :-)
Snack: NONE
Dinner: Chili/tostitos at Madison's
Snack: some fries at the peddler
Had a fair amount of drinks at the peddler. We were there celebrating the life and times of Tom Vernaleken, the band director I took over 5 years ago after he passed. Some teachers, alumni and friends came out to hang. It was a good time and lots of great stories were shared.
What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
I probably did not eat nearly enough today, but i guess my body needed that after Thursday! Held off from dinner because I was not hungry, only had water with my chili, and spent a whole day in cresskill without getting pizza!

Days 6-7 - Crites Reunion

What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
foodwise, NOTHING. Does it really LOOK like i held back on food? BUT i only had 1 beer at night, so that was good!

1 week wrap-up:
1) It sucks to do GREAT for a whole week and then screw it up on the last day. (preview - on day 8, i start at 210 lbs!)
2) Its ridiculous how often everyone wants to go out and drink! and how funny they look at you when you drink water!
3) All things considered, I'm going pretty damn well considering its summer and i'm going on all of these trips!

R.I.P. George Steinbrenner. Thanks for all the great Yankee years, many of which i don't even remember, and for setting them up for success for years to come.

Gym: 400 abs + 30 minutes elliptical.

Breakfast: 2 whole eggs, 1 egg white scrambled (140 cal, 10 fat, 0 carb)
Lunch: My awesome salad: lettuce, chick peas, cheese, bacon bits, seasoning, cucumber, red wine vinegar, croutons. (350 cal, 16 fat, 20 carb)
Snack: NONE
Dinner: Turkey Burger, 1 green pepper, broccoli. (Wow, healthy as hell!!)
Snack: 4 mini pizza bagels (200, 6, 29), 1 bite of the brownie
What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
well, nothing consciously. I just made an effort to eat the healthy foods that i bought yesterday :-) Who even knows what I would have eaten otherwise!!!

july 12 - day 4

Bad day today, but not because I ate too much. Its because I did not eat often enough!!!

Woke up and went to the gym! WAHOO! (Back and Biceps, 200 abs, 29 minutes on elliptical)
Went to grocery store and picked up some good stuff but was running late, so didn't make any. Just had an
Breakfast: italian ice. (100 cal) and 1 bite of julie's brownie. (i decided I'd try to eat this bad boy one bite at a time, literally. one bite for breakfast, one bite later for a snack, etc.)

so then i went to work to get stuff done and while i was there, ended up staying longer than i was expecting, about 5.5 hours. While there, i had my
Lunch/snack: granola bar. (90 cal)

So i left work around 5:15 and headed off to Bruno's with my mom and sister . DANGEROUS, right? Mwahahahahaha, this is when i shocked EVERYONE and ordered:

Dinner: 1 slice of pizza, plain, and a grilled chicken salad, 3 pieces of Italian Bread with some butter.

YES, you heard it, I ordered a salad at the pizzeria! Believe it or not, it can happen.

Here is an actual transcript of conversation between myself and Mike, one of the co-owners:

Joe Verderese: So are you impressed?
Mike: With what, that you ate a salad? i didn't even know you knew how to do that!
JV: Tell them what i WOULD have eaten normally.
M: well, you woulda had the buffalo chicken (deep dish personal pan) pizza. And while you were waiting for that, you woulda had a slice of square. Oh, and a couple-a birch beers.

now . . . i would like to point out that i am not THAT bad, but i'm pretty close. haha. Regardless, I left full, not 100% satisfied, but eh. My sister estimated the salad at 300 calories.

Snack: OH GLORIOUS 2nd BITE OF BROWNIE! I also then ate the rest of the brownie AND a steak sandwich. I guess we'll call the pizza/salad late lunch and this a late dinner :-D

What I did not eat today that I normally would have:
As far as breakfast, I probably would have had a smoothie, if i had the stuff at home.
lunch would have prob been a slice of BBQ chicken pizza and a sausage slice +4 garlic knots at Cresskill Pizza.
Dinner, I would have addedtwo slices of square pizza, (one having meatballs on it) in addition to the 1 that I ate and a Large Birch beer (to go with the pizza)

July 11 - Day 3

Starting weight - 205! Wahoo!!

woke up late, didn't make it to the gym. ARGH

Lunch: Subway 6 inch - (300 cal)
Snack: lots of lime tostitos and some cheezits, 1 corona lite
Dinner: Sausage/Peppers/Onions on long roll, corn on the cob, green beans. (Glorious meal made by my cousin Nicole)
Snack: 6 mini donuts (460 cal) 1 piece of cake (also made by Nicole), 1 corona lite
Snack: Large Brownie made by Julie. It has Reese's in it. OMG!

What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
ummmm, nothing really, although i probably would have had 2-3 more beers at the bbq if i was not watching myself.

OK, so today, dessert was the DEVIL! but i guess its ok. I love dessert! Had a great time down at nicole and Dennis' house in Manchester. Good food, good hang, good pool, and their kids are awesome. Should have laid off the desserts though a little bit :-D

July 10 - Day 2

Starting weight - 206

Don't be fooled. 3 lbs in one day means only one thing. I did REALLY poorly the last couple days and I did fairly well yesterday. I need to get back to 203 before I can say I've made any progress since June 16.

Went to gym in the afternoon. Worked on Back. Played racquetball with Pedro for an hour fifteen, and did 200 abs.

Late Breakfast: 2 eggs + 1 egg white (157 cal)
Snack: Granola bar (90 cal)
Late Lunch: Ham Steak (150 cal), Tostitos - 1/2 serving (70 cal)
Dinner: Subway 6 inch - (300 cal)
Snack: Oh my, this is where things got bad!!! BBQ for Clifton Community Band . . . . had a TON of cheese and crackers and a TON of chips. Also a hot dog. not good!

What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
Late lunch with mom (most likely would have been 2-3 slices of pizza at Bruno's, with our track record!)
no beer or soda at bbq
no beer at Harp & Bard (the bartender is REALLY going to start to think I'm weird. 3 times there, 3 times nothing but water! at least i have left $22 in tips in those three nights, for tap water!)

July 9 - Day 1

Starting weight - 209

So today was strange. Had a gig in South Jersey, so I had a weird eating schedule.

Went to gym in the AM. Did Chest and Triceps +22 minutes treadmill and 200 abs.

Lunch: Grilled Chicken on wheat toast, cup of chili and baked potato with ketchup. (Happy Birthday, T-Mac!)
Drive to gig: 1 red bull
Dinner: 2 pieces of Chicken Francaise, a few veggies and some potatoes.
Late Night Snack - Granola Bar (90 cal) + italian ice (100 cal)

Pretty hungry today but really had no time to eat. Squeezed it in when I could.

What did I consciously cut out of diet today:
on way down to gig, did not get starbucks double chocolately chip frappucino
at gig i did not have a beer or drink
on way home, i REALLY wanted to stop at Sbarro's, but didn't.

J-Doc Monoblogs Start-Up

Hey everyone! So I've decided to start up my eating/exercising log to see
a) How many people really have nothing else to do but see what i am eating and
b) Try to keep myself honest!

I have been "dieting" for 12 weeks, kind of. I had lost as much as 18 lbs. I have been up and down a little in the past month, since summer started.

A little background:

The name J-DOC - coined by Julie Passaro Krygsman, as "Joe's Diet of Convenience." For instance, yesterday, it was convenient to eat 4 slices of pizza. Today, it was convenient to only eat twice, but they were pretty good meals! I pretty much eat what I want, when I want, but the idea is to make the choices better! This diet has also been know as the "Cucumber Diet" and has been described as "Just eat like a human and not an animal."

Overall goal: 50 pounds! I know it sounds like a lot, but most of you have not seen what I'm packin under the ol' shirt, so trust me, its all good. I'm not gonna be unhealthy or anything about it.

Ok, I'm out for now. I'm gonna try to put up my stuff every day. Feel free to comment, but please know that I already know exactly what i need to do, so I will probably not listen to your recommendations of what I SHOULD do. I know what i should do, it just requires great willpower.
