So today is the last day off. Tomorrow I start my summer program at Cresskill. It's a 3 hour class with 2 private lessons to follow, so it's not really all that bad, but I've been spoiled being home with my family now for 3 whole weeks (if you include the 2.5 days at the hospital) This was very nice and relaxing, in spite of the fact that there are 2 young kids running amok in our house - one with his feet and one with her crying and screaming mouth. :-) It also was a very well-timed thing because it gave me a great chance to set up the ol' diet (or lifestyle change, as I really should call it.)
Tomorrow's biggest challenge is going to be to drive PAST the Dunkin Donuts on the way to work and drive PAST the four 7-Elevens I drive past on the way home. I typically failed at both of these 3-4 times a week and at least 1 of them every day. Tomorrow being my first day doing the drive to and from work, I need to now establish the change of stopping. I have to be honest - sometimes I don't even realize it and I have pulled over, parked, gotten out of my car and gotten to the cashier without even realizing I did it! When I get on Route 4, my brain says "4 minutes til' Red Bull!" and when I drive home, when I sit at the light at the corner of River and Henley in New Milford, my blinker just magically turns on and pulls into the 7-Eleven at the gas station there. I am POSITIVE I can do this for a few days. But what will happen the day I decide to treat myself? Will it start a downward spiral? I'm gonna hold off as long as I can.
Now, on to today!
Breakfast - Cheerios and 2% milk
Lunch - leftover turkey breast on Italian bread.
Snacking - ok updating this a day later - I definitely had snack! I had 10 crackers (ritz) with peanut butter on them. Totally forgot about that! :-)
Dinner - ok, so I have chicken in the freezer. What am I going to do with the chicken? I'm trying to see how long I can go without repeating meals due to a lack of creativity. (I've repeated home made pizza because it's freaking awesome and I repeated the hamburger/corn/baked potato meal on the grill because again, it was freaking awesome and we had the 2 extra fresh burgers that I didn't want to freeze) So I cut up the chicken into little pieces and soaked them in Frank's Red Hot then pan cooked them and served it over a bed of white rice. I like this meal at Bruno's often, believe it or not - but the way this is healthier is that the portion they give is MASSIVE and I will NOT leave anything on my plate when I'm at Bruno's. Also, the buffalo sauce is heavier, thicker and there was much more of it, so I think this is one of those situations where eating the same exact meal, but at home, was a better option! I think I get it with yellow rice there. Not sure if it that's better or worse, but I definitely overeat when I eat that meal out because it is SO GOOD!
Snacking - 2 Frozen Lemonade Ices - 1 lemonade and one raspberry lemonade. I could not decide which one I wanted. THey are 70 calories each, so not so bad.
