As I speak, I am 5 days DD, 711 and Red Bull Free - for the most part. . . .. . . Keep reading to see why I say "For the most part." Its legit, I swear.
so we went to the pork roll festival and Atlantic City on Saturday after my initial blog. I had some tots and a "pork roll" sandwich. I know its Taylor Ham, but it was "Case's" brand pork roll, so technically, its not Taylor Ham. Its the same crap. relax! But i have to be respectful of the name of the festival, and for the day, call it pork roll. At night, we went to AC and had a few drinks and dinner at Carmines.
Sunday, we went to Jengo's BBQ and I had to really fight through one brief moment. ON the way there, we were going to stop and get a dessert to bring. FIrst, i went to Dunkin to get munchkins (Which I was going to not eat ANY of) but the line was REALLY slow. Next door was a 711. I was going to grab an entenmanns cake, which I would not have eaten, since it was from 711, but they were grossly overpriced. So I had to walk into both of my worst places and not get anything. It would have been harder had i actually bought the stuff and had to stare at it all day. Ended up getting cookies at shoprite :-) Had the typical BBQ food amount - which spanned lunch AND dinner. Played lots of cornhole, and had NO beer. well, I had about 3 ounces of a specialty beer that Jengo wanted me to try. Good times!
Monday - Memorial DAy - had Kristyn's dad over for lunch and had some hot dogs and a burger. Was probably too much, but barely had breakfast and wasn't eating til later. Went to Tiki Bar at Pt Pleasant for an 8:00 show with Don't Call Me Francis - the band that will hopefully be playing our wedding :-) On the boardwalk, we stopped at Little Mac's for dinner. Had 2 slices of pizza for dinner. they were not even that great. Kind of disappointing. The pizza was SO MUCH BETTER LAST TIME. I think they are probably better when they are not so busy. Had Kohr's ice cream for snack before the drive home. Can't go to Point without getting Kohrs!
Tuesday was about to be the first really good day for dieting. Back to school, back to cooking breakfast, and back to bringing food for lunch! I went grocery shopping on Monday and got a whole bunch of functional food that will help me not overeat, including drinking lots of water and seltzer. Had a smoothie for breakfast and a granola bar for snack. In the meantime, I forgot that a parent had offered to bring in home made chicken parm for me and her son for lunch today. Well, she was crazy! Brought in 3 trays of chicken parm - thats almost 20 nice thick pieces of chicken parm! Holy Moly! It was awesome - and came with side of pasta and really good italian bread. I had a good amount of it! hahaha. Dinner was at home - had a spicy sausage sandwich, pork veggie pot stickers and some veggies. Add a little light snacking, and not a terrible day. Oh almost forgot - This was Brody's birthday, so we went to the CLif around 10. Had 1 beer and then i had my OOPS moment, which I am not going to count. I ordered a Red Bull and Vodka. Totally thinking of it only as an alcoholic beverage, and not as a means to wake up, I am not counting this red bull. As the bartender said, the liquor cancels out the red bull :-) ahahaha. Totally accidental, and I didn't realize it until I was about 1/3 of the way through the drink, at which point i yelled out "OH SH**!!"
Wednesday was legitimately the first REALLY good day. Smoothie for breakfast, cold cut sandwich for snack. lunch was a salad! You hear it, a salad! Dinner - spicy black bean veggie burger (no bread) with some rice and broccoli. Also had 2 slices of yellow american cheese. Thanks chef Kristyn! I then passed out around 6:30 and didn't get off the couch until 4:30am! I was planning on going to the gym. Oh well . . . . . . . .
All together, this 5 day stretch has seen me drop about half of the weight that I had gained back. If I can knock out the 2nd half in the next week or so, then I will be on track to be down for my trip to Korea - a.k.a. J-DOK - Joe's Diet of Korea! Because I know I will be dropping weight there - since they eat slowly, with chopsticks, and undoubtedly, a lot of foods that I will not like!
Current weight - 213.6 LBS.
Weight loss for the year - 17.5 LBS

Would One Of You Please Get Off?
Hello faithful followers. I regret to say that I have been a bad boy for awhile, but I'm hoping its time to get back to positive eating and exercising habits.
Today, I got on the scale and instead of it giving me my weight, it just shouted at me:
"WOULD ONE OF YOU PLEASE GET OFF?!?!?!?!?!?!"
After a very significant weight loss of 22 pounds in the first few months of the year, I have slowly regained my old form and slipped back into uncontrolled eating habits. In this time, I have gained back 8lbs and I can not let it go any further.
There are a few key components that I have slacked on and will be looking to get fixed up.

There are a few key components that I have slacked on and will be looking to get fixed up.
- I have slipped back into my old morning routine of 1 donut, 1 buttered bagel and a red bull for breakfast. So I will be putting myself on a 1 month complete ban from Dunkin Donuts in an attempt to re-program my brain. After 1 month, school will be over. When I'm not in school, I don't really go to DD because its not conveniently on the way to work when I haven't eaten breakfast yet. Therefore, I will probably end up having DD 1-2 times a week over the summer, which is acceptable.
- My between-meal 7-11 runs have snuck back into my life. This is bad because it is like adding a meal that I do not need. Its almost a 4th meal in a day, which is silly unless I'm having 5-6 light meals, but that's not what I'm doing. Soooo, I will also put myself on a 1 month ban from 7-11 in an effort to, again, re-program my brain that I don't just automatically need to stop there every other day.
- Fast Food - I went all of last year without going to any of the major fast food chains - McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, etc. New Year's brought me back, but I still only went 1 time in January. Each month, I have had a little more, and a little more, and now, i kind of just get it at will, whenever I feel like it again. This is bad. The 1 month ban will include all major fast food chains.
- Late night food - I have actually been really good with this. I have not been going out for late night food, so I can't complain about this. I don't need an official ban on this, but I will be trying not to do it.
- Exercise - I had gotten into good shape with preparing for the 5k at Bear Mountain, but with the busy schedule of school in May, I have not done ANY running since then. I need to get back on track with that. I have an unofficial goal of doing a road 10k at the end of the summer if possible, so if that's going to happen, I need to work!

Day 5 - Talent show day at school
Friday, APril 25, 2014
Starting weight -214
Weight loss to date - 17.1 lbs
I talked about this yesterday. I'm not sure why the big jump in weight. preview - I'm way down the next day. I have the ability to shoot up and down 3-4 pounds in a day depending on when the last time I ate was and how late i sleep . The not eating late thing really helps! So does exercusing!
Morning RUn - 1.5 miles, 15 minutes - 6am.
Breakfast - 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg
Snack - 4 fig newtons
Lunch - 1 chicken finger, steamfresh veggies + 4 pot stickers (which by the way are 3 weight watcher points for 4 pot stickers. I love them!)
snack - granola bar
snack - something else, I can't remember
Dinner - 1 slice of chicken parm pizza from a place in Emerson. It was REALLY good!
Snack - pack of starburst. Definitely could have done without this, but I have not had starburst in forever!
late night small snack - a few spoonfuls of sherbet ice cream.
FYI - after a quick Weight watchers tracking, I am allowed 43 points. Today, I ate 42 points and i did 4 points of activity with my morning run. Not a bad day. I was not planning on tracking, but I was curious after I wrote this blog and I did well!

Day 4 - my first blogged cocktail hour . . . . .
Thursday, April 24, 2014
Starting weight - 212.4
Weight loss for the year: 18.7 lbs
Breakfast - I had a lean pocket on the way to work. i think they are 6 weight watcher points which is pretty good, and it stopped me from stopping at Dunkin. Still Dunkin' free for 4 days! WAHOO! had a swig of OJ also
Snack - Granola Bar around 9:15
Snack - fruit snacks around 10:15 - My student teacher busted my chops to make sure I was not snacking too much. I explained the frequent snacking on small amounts. I appreciate SOMEONE actually busting me! Don't be shy. STOP ME!
Lunch - 11:30 - Smart Ones Oriental noodles and chicken - diet coke
Snack - Rice Krispie treat - 2:15
Dinner - Well, tonight, I had the opportunity to go to the SeJong Gala fundraiser to raise funds for the wonderful program that is sending me on a cultural learning experience trip to Korea for 12 days this summer. I think that I did really well at this considering it was a cocktail hour banquet! I had 3 little plates of food and a couple of small chicken and beef sticks at cocktail hour and 2 beers. Coming from a guy who is a cocktail hour fanatic, usually, 3 plates of food is just the beginning, so I am pretty happy with the way this went. The main dinner was a small piece of steak, a scoop of mashed potatoes and some veggies.
Preview - was VERY frustrated the next day because i was way up in weight. This, I suppose, is why you should not weigh yourself every day. You can drive yourself crazy. For me, once I got over being PISSED about it, it helped though, because it motivated me to be better the next day. I stand by the fact that I actually did very well at this cocktail hour. I don't care what anyone else says!

Day 3 - TIRED TODAY!!!!!
April 23, 2014
Starting Weight - 210.4
Weight loss for the year - 20.7 lbs
Let me start with: HAPPY 3 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO KRISTYN AND ME!!!!!!! Wahoo!
Breakfast - 2 egg whites + 1 whole egg - scrambled + 8 oz trop 50 OJ
lunch - half sandwich from Denaros - turkey, pepperoni and yellow american cheese Plus french fries.
I had 3 sodas today - they were diet sodas, but i forgot my water at home today. ARGH
Dinner - had 2 slices of pizza. They were thin. REALLY THIN. I should have stuck with one, but i'm telling you, these 2 were like having 1 bruno's square.
Snack - It was Zoe's 1st birthday (unofficial birthday party before the big one on Saturday) and so there were desserts. I did really good, for me, all things considered, but it was not my best of nights.
Had 1 average size of cake, 2 pieces of chocolate bunny heads, and a chocolate chip cookie. Definitely could have done better, but normally would have had about twice that, PLUS another slice of pizza. So believe it or not, i did show some restraint tonight! Basically drank diet soda all day and night though. not a big deal for weight loss purposes, but i'd prefer the water.

Day 2 - Breaking out the Morning Run!
Tuesday, April 22
Today's weight - 212.4
Weight loss for the year:18.7 lbs
Ok, so I was going to hide this in the end of yesterday's blog since it was yesterday and you all probably read it already, but I figured that not as many people would see it, so I want to be honest. On my way to bed, I had about 30 goldfish. THEN, staring me in the face, on my night stand was a Reese's easter bunny that Kristyn gave me on Easter. Before I knew it, I ate half of it in a rushed blur of dietary badness!
On the bright side, I woke up down 1.6 lbs from my first day, so I'll take that!
Exercise: Got up bright and early and went for a morning run today! 1.21 miles, took 11 1/2 minutes to do it. Felt good to get up and a little active to start the day. I wish i could force myself to actually do that every day! I doubt it, but I will try!
Breakfast: 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg, 8 oz of trop 50 OJ and a seltzer on the drive into work.
I am 2 days Dunkin Donuts and Red bull Free! I am not going for any sort of record or long stretch or anything, but believe it or not, its become habit again to go to DD and get bagels/donuts/red bulls, etc on the way to work. So any day I can skip by that place is a good day!
Snack - granola bar during my duty period in the library + water
Lunch - Black Bean Burger and 4 pot stickers + water
I'm probably not going to list my drinks for long if its water and seltzer. I will list all drinks OTHER THAN water and seltzer.
Dinner - Well, i had brought a weight watchers dinner to grab on the way out the door on the way to the gig, BUT I forgot to eat it. hahaha. So, i stopped at 711 real quick and had a light bite. All I had was a taquito and a jamaican beef patty. Plus a diet coke. I know, its not the best option, BUT it was 515 and I knew I was not eating again for the night until possibly 1015pm, and i really didn't want to eat at that point anyway, so I needed something to hold me over for the night. THat did it. We didn't get our pasta at the end of the gig, so the extra carbs late night didn't happen! I'm kind of hungry right now, but I'm glad I didn't have the pasta!
Snack - I finished that Reese's bunny. I had to stop home and get a few things and before you knew it, the bunny was in my belly. It was glorious.
By the way - awesome night with the band at Trumpets tonight. It was just awesome! Had Denis DiBlasio as the guest artist and I got to play Superbone Meets the Bad Man with him. WOW, what a fun time. Can't wait to hear the recordings! Thanks to everyone who came out. Great job by Mike Iapicca and the Parsippany Hills HS Big Band. Next Up - May 10 at Cresskill HS - Our Jazz Festival with Conrad Herwig and the Rutgers Jazz Faculty!
Sooo, I'd say, overall, a good day food-wise. Didn't eat a whole heck of a lot, but I didn't starve myself. And, I started the day with a little run! Hope I can do it again tomorrow!

Day 1 -Back in the saddle
Starting weight 214
Weight loss for the year 17.1
Weight loss for the year 17.1
Breakfast - 2 egg whites, 2 whole egg 8 oz trop 50 oj and a Seltzer.
This is huge because I got back to work after break and didn't go to dunkin donuts. I got in a bad place with that the past month or so
Morning snack - 3 fig newtons - If i want to avoid big meals, I think I will be snacking a lot!
Lunch - Weight watchers meal + seltzer and rice krispie treat.
Snack - Granola Bar
Dinner - Beef tips + 1.5 small potatoes and half a can of corn.
Snacks: Rice Krispie Treat + 40 goldfish (fyi, 55 goldfish is 1 serving, so it sounds like a lot, but its not!)
I was planning on running tonight. THEN, Kristyn and i started watching Prison break. We are so close to the end of the last season, BUT its addicting. Currently, we are in the middle of our 4th episode of the night. I don't think we are done either :-) Good relaxing night. Hopefully Kristyn will feel better enough to go to work tomorrow!
Going to try not to snack again tonight. BYE!
Back by popular demand . . . . . .
AAAANNNNNDDDDD, here we are again. Its been a few months, and as predicted, it is not mid-April and I am back :-) I had a really good run early in the year. Followed by a stint of Weight Watchers followed by about 5-6 weeks of poor choices and functional maintenance.
Over the past few days, I have seen some people I have not seen in awhile and they have commented on how much weight it looks like I have lost and how they have been following the blog. It made me remember that this still is, and has been, the best form of gimmick-based diet that I ever do. I succeed the most with it, and when I do well, I get lots of positive reinforcement from it. Since I have been crappy with the upkeep the past few weeks, I have gained a few pounds back and I need to STOP before I undo everything that I did.
SOOO, once again, here are the rules of Joe's latest Diet of Convenience. Enjoy and let's see how this goes! I want to stress the idea that YOU CAN STOP ME FROM EATING/ORDERING/MAKING POOR CHOICES. Don't feel like you are going to make me mad. If i get mad, its only because I want to eat something bad and I know that I should not!
MY JOBS:
**I do not want to "Diet" in an unrealistic way. i want to try to do something i can keep up with for an extended period of time (forever). This means that I will not be forcing myself to not eat things, I just need to limit how much i have and how often i have it.

MY JOBS:
- STOP SUCKING AT LIFE!!! (My diet life, that is. Let's be honest, I'm AWESOME at the rest of life) :-D
- Go to grocery store and keep stocked of good, healthy foods
- take the time to cook instead of grabbing fast food/Dunkin Donuts/711/etc
- Get back to the gym for lifting AND cardio - continue to run and play more racquetball
- Stop making excuses and start making right choices
- Follow the rules I created (below)
- NEVER LIE to my people who are following the blog. I will not, I promise. That would defeat the purpose.
- Let me know if you are actually following this. The more who follow, the more apt I am to do well!
- If you are out with me, do not push me to eat more than I order
- Do not offer me your leftovers
- If you are out with me, you are welcome to question my choices of food and remind me that I have to make better choices! If I reason with you as to why I'm choosing something, realize when you are going to lose the battle. If its 11pm, and we are out after a concert, and I get 2 scoops of ice cream, while you are all eating buffalo wings, french fries, and tons of beers, realize that 2 scoops of ice cream is a victory for my standards of late night eating.
- If we are out, and I am not drinking, deal with it and realize that I am fun as hell, regardless of whether or not I am drinking. Look at it this way, i can be the DD if I'm not drinking! This is an especially big one because in the past, I have been to many bars with many people, and have drank countless glasses of water. Although some people are cool with it, many others spend too much time making me explain myself and then try to convince me to do otherwise. We are not 17. There is no peer pressure to drink. You have your beer, and I'll have my water if i choose!
- Yell at me if you see me making bad choices. I really don't want people to tell me I'm doing poorly, so if you do, it will motivate me to do better!!!
- Realize that no matter what you eat or drink, there is probably SOMETHING wrong with it. If i'm eating a "Healthy Choice" meal for lunch, I know its loaded with sodium. But its so much better than eating 4 chicken fingers, 2 cookies, mac & cheese and some fries. So realize that not every food will be perfect. it just needs to be better than it WOULD have been.
**I do not want to "Diet" in an unrealistic way. i want to try to do something i can keep up with for an extended period of time (forever). This means that I will not be forcing myself to not eat things, I just need to limit how much i have and how often i have it.
- Pizza: Pizza is fine. 1 slice. With or without toppings, and not more than once a day. I should not have any appetizers with that. Just the one slice.
- Soda: Diet only, and only if necessary. Try to do more seltzer and spring water.
- Water: 1 gallon a day is the best. Not always easy to remember to drink it all, but just drink lots of water.
- Breakfast Sandwiches: 1-2 a week is ok, even with the Taylor Ham, BUT no bagels. Wheat toast please! And egg whites if possible
- Beer: Keep it to light if possible and don't just have a beer for the sake of having a beer. Save the beer drinking for a night out at the bar.
- Breakfast in General: Fruit Smoothies would be the best, egg whites, Cheerios with skim milk. Breakfast should be prepared at home. No excuses. There is no need to buy breakfast, since it usually ends up being unhealthy. Stay away from Dunkin! But if you must go, get an egg white flatbread.
- Evening: No late night eating. All attempts should be made to eat the last meal by 8pm and the last small snack before 9:30. TGI Fridays, Applebees, 1/2 price apps are a NO-NO. I can go, but I do not eat/drink. Stick to Water. (Maybe a salad?) I can hang out, but don't let me order my triple chocolate meltdown, boneless buffalo wings, crap like that.
- Snacking: 100 calorie packs are good because they are small and tasty. Salads at home are awesome, fruits veggies, etc. I always have them in the house, so I need to eat them!
- Frequency: I should be eating frequently and small portions. This will keep me from eating huge meals!
- Vacations/parties: SOMEHOW, i need to keep it contained on vacations and at parties. Limit the ridiculousness of larger/fun events. This is currently my worst.
- Buffets: not allowed! Under any circumstance. I will allow myself a buffet for every 10 pounds I lose, although I don't necessarily HAVE to go.
- Fast Food: Its ok to go, but no super-sizing, only one sandwich, and try to get a bottle of water with the meal instead of a soda.
- Money: Get over the fact that it costs more to diet. Also, get over the fact that a bottle of water may cost $1.50 at a restaurant when i could get a case for $4. Deal with the $1.50 and drink the water instead of getting a soda, gatorade, or other options.

Update on the ol' J-Doc
Starting weight - 231.2
Weight Loss to Date - 19 LBS (have been down as far as 22)
Hey everyone!
I ran into someone (at the gym) yesterday, and she told me that she had been following my blog and how much she enjoyed reading it. It made me realize that I need to give my people an update! So here goes . . . .. .
As I sit here typing, I am currently not having any real progress with NUMBERS but I am having progress in my activities! Last time I checked in, I had hit the 20 pound mark. At this point, I am actually only down 19. I had made it to 22, but that may have just been a dehydrated morning after a lot of activity and small dinner the night before.
I am still very happy with where I am. I decided to try not counting points this week, but it didn't work, so today I will start counting points again since my start day is SUnday. I have not really gained and i have maintained. Sometimes maintenance is important. You go through stretches where you may eat a little more than you want, but as long as you don't gain as you go, then its ok. Just need to limit how long you stay in one place for!
The good news is that I have started exercising! Some friends from work have me doing a 5k trail run at Bear Mountain at the beginning of May, so it was time to start getting a little bit in shape! It started 2 weeks ago today, when I went for 2 separate one mile runs, in the cold. Then a few days later, I ran 3.5 miles on the track at school. After that, Kristyn and I ran on the track at Brookdale park. I did 4.5 miles. THe next day, we went for a gentle street run - 2.5 miles around Nutley, and found another track within walking distance. THEN, We went to the Alpine Boat Basin with Manny, Jason and Shane. I was expecting to turn around on this trail run, my first ever, after 1.75 miles. Kept waiting for Jason and Shane to stop and tell us to turn around. Never happened! 2.8 miles in, we hit the turn around point and took a breather before coming back. IN the end, we did 5.6 miles with hills and lots of terrain to work around. Took about an hour and twenty minutes if you include the break we took at the top. Very motivating to know I can do that! Followed it up with a game of racquetball with Pete yesterday. So in the last 2 weeks, I have lost no weight, but I have began exercising. I guess I need to put very good diet AND exercise together to get to the next level. Will try that this week! I will say that I'm really happy that I have started running. I hope that I can force myself to make the time to keep it up. I think I'm ready to take the next jump. If I can get to 206 - that would be my 1/2 way point! What do you think - April 15? Let's Go!
Weight Loss to Date - 19 LBS (have been down as far as 22)

The big 20
Hey everyone. I'm not back but I wanted to keep you updated. Today I weighed in at 211.2 which is exactly 20 lbs down. This is significant to me. It's a nice big number. And it also signifies 40% of my goal. Wahooooooooo!!!!!! Weight watchers has been good. Eat what you want. But of course there is a limit. I've eaten a lot of pizza. But it's ok ifi have the points left to do it.
Anyway, still not really exercising. I can't get back on the roll. Well see. 20 lbs though, in 10+ weeks. Let's go!

TTFN - Ta Ta For Now . . . . .
YO . . . . . .
So in the typical J-Doc style, i lasted about 4-6 weeks. I got busy/bored/lame/etc. Whatever. So, what I have decided was to leave you all, for now. the Blogging gimmick ran its course, and served me well. February was a waste. I basically maintained though.
Yesterday, I started on Weight WAtchers for the month of March. Counting the points, etc. I'm going to ride this one for as long as I can before getting bored . . . . . probably about 4-6 weeks is my guess. THen I'll try smoething else, and I'm thinking that in Mid April or May, I'll give it another round on the blog. You see, I need to trick myself into doing this or else I get bored.
The good news is that today, i weight in at 216, which means I am only up .7LBs from my lowest during the blog deal. I do not want to sit here and have you waste your time reading about my failures and cheat days and excuses, so I will be back in a few months, when my diet of the month bores me and I am ready to publicly display my eating habits again. I vow that I will be back.
I may give an update here and there on my weight watcchers points progress in case anybody cares.
FYI - yesterday, I ate only 29 of my allowed 44 points. TOday, I have only used 22 so far, and I don't see myself doubling that the rest of the night, since I have big band rehearsal and I will not go out after. I may have a slice of pizza later.
Thanks for your dedicated reading, and I will be back!
Sincerely,
the guy who puts the "J" in "J-Doc."

Day 53 - I'M BAAAACCCCCKKKKK!!!!
February 23 - 2014
Starting weight unknown - Ending weight the next day - 215.3 LBS
Weight loss to date - 14.9 LBS
Forgive me bloggers, for I have sinned. It has been 9 days since my last confession. In that time, I have done many things. Not many of them include eating sensibly. I have been to the All-State Music convention - not a good place to diet . . . . . . . . for 3 days. I just came off of a great big band gig with One More Once at Il Tulipano which had outstanding food. Its now the week before the school musical which means that rehearsals go into the late night and I am going to have to plan my meals carefully. I've had a few other gigs in there, and lots of craziness. Through it all, the biggest constant is that I still have not set foot for a late night 1/2 price appetizer run at Applebees or Fridays. The late night eating used to be my worst deal.
Oh wait, didn't I mention that I got ENGAGED!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! now, if you actually are reading my blog, that means you go on my facebook. IF you are on my facebook and you missed this great event, then I will be impressed. But I can't write a blog and not include that! :-) Let the wedding planning begin (After the school musical! I promised Kristyn I would start helping with planning after the show ends on March 2.
I have not eaten well, for the most part. I although have not eaten often. Portions has not been the problem. Just choices. I have not exercised. And I don't expect to exercise this week - HELL WEEK for the show.
Through it all, I have managed to lose a very miniscule amount of weight. Since my last blog, I am down about 2 LBS, which is .4 LB below my lowest of the this little run here. All things considered, Not too bad. I will not make it to my 10 LB goal of FEbruary (reaching 210) but lets see what I can do here, in this last 5 days of FEbruary, to get as close to my goal as possible. March will rock. Weather will get nicer - I will get outside to run more - maybe the rest of the snow will meal and open the basketball and tennis courts . . . . . . . . . Anyway, Back to the blog. Let's Go!

Day 44 - February 13, 2014 - Breaking News - Its SNOWING!
Starting weight - 217.2
Weight Loss to Date - 13 LBS
Breakfast - 2 pancakes, 1 egg, 3 sausage links, trop 50. Home made - It was a nice breakfast. WHen we are home for the day and can't go out, I think its good to make a nice breakfast. A little treat. We are now OUT of pancake mix - probably a good thing. :-)
Exercise - 1st round of shoveling. I'd say it was about a foot of snow.
Lunch - Can of Chicken RIce Soup with 3 saltine crackers
Snack - Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich
Exercise - Shoveling round #2 - about 2-3 inches - but much heavier as it started switching to sleet and rain.
Snack - Kristyn made the Valentines Day Cookies today, and since we were home, I got to dive into them head first a day early. Had like 5 of them. They are sugar cookies with Strawberry frosting on them. SOOOO good!
Dinner - Home made pulled chicken - with BBQ sauce and baked beans. Tried it on whole wheat toast, the toast became a soggy mess! A side of corn. CROCK POT = AWESOME!
Snack -1 mini Reeses
Foreshadowing for tomorrow: Going to be at my 2014 low - I know this because I am writing this AFTER i weighted myself the next morning :-)
Started watching Prison Break tonight. I suppose i could have spent time practicing, or writing music, or doing something constructive, but no, instead, we will get into another TV show which till destroy our late night sleep schedule. :-)

Day 43 - February 12 - Lost count somewhere and skipped a "day" Oops!
Starting weight - 217.2
Weight loss to date - 13 LBS
Breakfast - Piece of Crumb Cake and a red bull . . . . . . . I need to start cooking again. I am developing a bad habit breakfast run. The morning cooking has stopped due to an extra 10 minute snooze. It must stop somehow. I need to stop going for breakfast ont he way to school and i need to stop with the red bulls.
Lunch -left over whole wheat pasta with peas, peppers and onions
Snack - a student forced - and i mean forced - a cupcake on me. He came late to rehearsal from a bake sale and tried to buy his way out of me being mad. He literally bought me a cupcake, from the bake sale he was running with a teacher, and would not let me take no for an answer. I turned the cupcake into a fun conducting opportunity and ate the whole thing during a long tone group warm-up. I made the entire group wait on each note until i took a bit, chewed and swallowed. 1 major scale later, the cupcake was gone.
Dinner - Roast Pork Loin (peppercorn flavor) with corn and 4 pierogies.
Snack - half a glass of red wine and 2 mini Reeses. The reeses are almost gone, so that will be a good thing! I'm not gorging on them, but 1-2 a day is definitely added calories that I can avoid. They lasted in our house for a month and a half so far. Thats extremely impressive!

Day 41 - February 11, 2014 - Finally getting to the Sopranos Series Finale!
Starting weight - 217.2
Weight loss to date - 13 LBS
Breakfast - turkey sausage egg white flat bread
Lunch - SMart ones - thai noodles and chicken
dinner - whole wheat pasta with peas, onions, peppers and three cheese marinara. with grated cheese
snack - Skinny cow ice cream sandwich
snack - 2 small peanut butter cups - the mini ones, not actual reeses.
interesting news - Definitely watched the entire Sopranos series within 4 months. Came to a conclusion last night. . . . . . . . .. .Here's the thing. Season after season, they have these KILLER 2nd to last episodes. People getting wacked, drama, action, etc. THen the season finales are let-downs. THe thing is, then we were able to just move on to the next season. The 2nd to last episode of the final season was AWESOME! We were so fired up and ready to rock. Then, the final episode. Starts off pretty good, then just becomes a little tidying up of a bunch of stuff. Its cool about Phil and everything, BUT it all just kind of ended. I know, that was the idea. That was the plan. yadda yadda yadda. I read up a bunch of theories and explanations, even an interview with Chase. I don't know. I guess its coming together a little more, but holy moly. For such a great series, to end that way, I don't know, we expected more. Ok, thats my rant. If anyone didn't see the series, its worth watching. I would recommend reading up on some blogs, explanations, etc in between episodes. It helps explain a lot of things that you may have missed on the first viewing. There is a lot of deep stuff in there beyond just who gets wacked, who Tony sleeps with, and what drugs Moltesanti takes.

Day 40 - February 10, 2014 - Forty days and forty nights . . . . . . .
Starting weight - 216.3
Weight loss to date - 13.9 LBS
Breakfast - Had an old school breakfast - It was a bad idea, but it was only the 2nd time this year i have done this . . . . had 2 donuts and a red bull from 711. EEK. I know - I know . . . . No excuses. Bad choice.
Lunch - 3 mini turkey meatballs + 4 veggie chicken pot stickers
Snack - pretzels (hard)
Dinner - 2 slices of pizza from Savino's in Oradell. John Massaro introduced me to this place. I drove by it for 6 years, EVERY DAY on the way to and from work, and did not know it existed. Kind of easy to miss. Looks like a house, kind of. I don't go home that way any more, but once in a while, when i'm coming from my New Milford student's lesson, i'll go up Oradell Ave and grab dinner at SAvino's. Definitely great stuff. Except today, the crust was a little thin and dry. Otherwise, it was awesome!
Snack-Ice cream truffle pop. 100 calories
No exercise today. Got a little lazy.

Day 38-39 - February 8-9, 2014 - NO REGRETS!
Starting Weight - 216.3
Weight loss to date - 13.9 LBS
Let me start off this blog by stating right up front that I gained 2.5 LBS today. If i had it to do all over again, I would do it THE EXACT SAME WAY! I played a wedding at Nanina's in the Park - in Belleville, NJ Saturday night, and I must say, there are a few places that may have a slightly stronger cocktail hour; there is one place that has a better dessert; and there are surely some places that may cook a better dinner here and there, but Nanina's is the one that has ALL THREE, ALL THE TIME! As a musician in the band, we actually get to eat there, which is awesome. Not all places or bands let you eat with the "normals" during a wedding.
Highlights of the night:
Lets go backwards - Breakfast - Sausage, Pepper, Egg omelet
Lunch - 2 slices of pizza
Exercise - NONE :-)

SUnday
Starting weight - 218.8
Weight Loss to date 11.4 LBS
Breakfast - Had bacon and egg on a healthy wrap at Kristyn's family's house. We were going to go to the diner, but hey, they offered to cook!
Lunch - a couple of mini turkey meatballs + 4 slices of cheddar (130 calories)
Dinner - Turkey Tacos - home made with:
I think this was everything. I hope I didn't miss anything.
Exercise - a little over 1 hour of racquetball with Pete. I really like playing racquetball instead of running. I would like to think that all the racquetball has made my running stamina better, also. :-)

- Cocktail hour: New station of Mac & CHeese, Bang Bang Shrimp and Popcorn chicken, as well as the best penne vodka i've had at a wedding in awhile
- Dinner - JUMBO tasty shrimp, and really cool potatoes
- Dessert - without a doubt, the best fried oreos in NJ, + something that I will now dream about - FRIED NUTELLA!

Day 38 - February 7, 2014
Starting Weight - 215.7
Weight loss to date: 14.5 LBS
Breakfast - Grabbed a turkey sausage egg white flatbread from DD on the way to work. Rewarded my good work with a red bull too. First one in awhile. Can you believe i was drinking one every morning with 2 donuts before New Year's?
Lunch - 3 strips of Buffalo grilled chicken from home + a cup of chick peas with red wine vinegar.
Dinner - Chicken Pad Thai and 2 pieces of chicken satay - this was really good! We actually haven't really eaten out much since we started trying to eat better. Was nice to not cook and do dishes and have a good meal!
Snack - cheddar cheese. About 130 calories.
Night out at the Clif with the Clifton crew! Had about 5-6 mugs of lite beer and a glass of water. Didn't eat anything! Was going to pick at some friends food, but my lovely girlfriend stopped me (which is exactly what people are supposed to do) I still crave the mozzarella stick and chicken finger, but surely didn't need it!
Sorry for the boring blog today.

Day 37 - February 6, 2014 - Getting Rid of the 'Stang . . . . . . again
STarting weight - 216.5
Weight loss to date - 13.7 LBS
Breakfast - Weird breakfast - had a reduced fat peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread.
So let's talk about this morning. A few months ago, I had an accident with my car. I finally got it to the shop a few weeks ago and for a loaner, they gave me a brand new, 2014 Mustang with all leather interior. It was bad ass! A little blast from the past. So, of course, yesterday, when I was off for the day, they "missed my call." my 7 calls, and 3 voicemails. I had to take half a morning off today to get the car back. Anyway, i slept in an extra half hour and then was too lazy to cook, since Kristyn didn't want breakfast today. So i threw together a quick peanut butter sandwich on the way out. It was pretty awesome. Anyway - Fast forward to . .. . . . . .
LUNCH - LEFTOVERS!!! Got to have 3 pieces of the buffalo chicken that Kristyn made yesterday, with a very small amount of egg noodles. I also had a sugar free pudding snack pack and a diet root beer.
Lets talk about this lunch. I need to vent! Listen up, 403b, insurance, and other sales people. WHEN I'M EATING LUNCH IN THE TEACHER'S CAF, AND I VERY CLEARLY DON'T SHOW INTEREST IN THE CONVERSATION, I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU. I know they are just doing their jobs so I'm not going to be mad about their existence. They are very nice people and are doing what they are supposed to be doing. BUT I very rarely actually go to the teacher's caf. I go today and there they are. I walk by them 4 times while reheating the food in the microwave. I clearly make no effort to talk or even make eye contact. I then get approached. The entire time, I stare at my food, give them the "uh huh" treatment, and continue to eat while not using any complete sentences, or even words, to respond. They talked through my entire meal, which I was looking forward to, and did not enjoy at all, and then asked if I was interested in setting up a meeting. Really? They could not tell that I was completely annoyed that they stole my entire lunch time away from me and didn't want to talk? Why would I want to set up a chance to talk again? I asked a couple colleagues that were there if there was ANY WAY I could have looked less interested in the conversation. They said that they found it hard to believe that I could possibly find a way to be more obvious. Sorry. . . . I may sound like a jerk, but I think that more people THINK these thoughts. I just am finally stating them. If you are in this line of work, please don't take offense. Just take into account that if we look disinterested, we are disinterested. Your product may be great. But I'm not interested.
Moving on . . . . . . . .
snack - ok, I walked into the office and the secretaries gave me a slice of pizza. I kind of forgot for a few minutes that I should have said no. It was only 1, and it was good. Sorry, I forgot I was trying not to eat unnecessary foods for a few minutes!
Snack - Salad! Need some kind of pit orchstra snack, and the salad seems to be working!
Dinner - Had a small piece of steak and a VERY small amount of egg noodles with a water
Snack - had 8 small slices of cheese. It was about 250 calories worth of cheese in the end. Could have done without it BUT I really wanted to go to 711. I thought that cheese was a much better alternative to what I would have gotten.
I can't wait to have more buffalo chicken tomorrow. Not sure I will be losing weight today, but can't lose every day! If I stay withing .5-1LB each day and don't go up multiple days in a row, i'm in good shape. Weighing in every day is stupid. Its just what I do.
Weight loss to date - 13.7 LBS
Breakfast - Weird breakfast - had a reduced fat peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread.

Day 36. February 5, 2014 - more snow??????
Starting weight 217.3. This is a 2014 low!
Weight loss to date 12.9 lbs
Late Breakfast: this complete breakfast. Home Made 2 pancakes, 1 egg 2 pieces of Taylor ham and Trop50 OJ.
Snack. 1 mini reeses
Exercise-massive snow shoveling. About 1 hour of heavy lifting out there. Holy moly!
Late lunch. Turkey Chili and some baked tostitos. Probably a little too much but it was really good!!!
Exercise - 45 minute run and 5 minute walk cool down. 4 miles total. 575 calories
Snack - 2 small pieces of cheese (35 calories each) while we were cooking.
Dinner - AWESOME! Kristyn made her buffalo grilled chicken again, i had 4 strips. With that we had egg noodles (1.5 servings) and edamame (1 serving) It was so good! If all dinners can be like this, then I won't mind keeping this up!
Snack - had a "skinny Cow' ice cream sandwich - which is 150 calories. We decided on those more expensive snacks this time because I have not had the willpower to eat ice cream at a controlled pace. I end up just eating and eating. Chips and Ice cream can be like that, so for this round, pre-packaged servings are the key.Tomorrow's preview - down to 216.5!
Wednesday, February 5, 2014
Day 35 - February 4, 2014 - Movin' on Down!
Starting weight - 218.8 and dropping . . . . . . .
Weight Loss to Date - 11.3 LBS
Breakfast - had a sausage and pepper omelette (with 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg, no cheese)
Lunch - TURKEY CHILI! Was so good! I can see myself making this a lot! Also had some corn
Snack - Pretzels - 1 serving
Pit Orchestra break - this, traditionally, has been an issue. Pit orchestra is tiring, and I always give the kids a break half way through. Its traditionally a time for chocolate or other junk food. This time, I was prepared! I had a SALAD! With Lettuce, chick peas, cheese and cucumbers w/red wine vinegar. It was really good! I actually was ok with having that, rather than the chocolate.
Dinner - Turkey Chili
Snack - 1 reeses small cup and a plate of pretzels.
Feeling good to get back on track again. Its interesting how bad you feel after a week of eating poorly when you got used to eating better! Well on my way to the February goal! New Year's Resolution gone 35 days now. Thats not bad!

Day 34 - February 3, 2014 - BACK TO THE GRIND!
Starting weight - 220.9 LBS
Weight loss to date - 9.2 LBS
Breakfast - Won Ton Soup and Trop 50 OJ
Lunch - Turkey Chili
Snack - 2 mini Reese's
Exercise - lot of shoveling to do, and then OFF to the gym. Played racquetball for about45 minutes then 12 sets of upper body lifting.
Dinner was great. 4 dumplings a black bean veggie burger and corn. Really good choices. Wahoo.
Later for snacks i had a serving of chips and latera serving of pretzels. Could have picked one but at least I learned how to eat slowly today. Instead of 2 petals per bite I had like5 bites per pretzel. Took so much longer to eat. Was awesome!!!! Gentle eating at its best.
Great day id say
The Lost Week - Lost my way, but I am back :-) Month #2 - underway
Days 28-33 - January 28 - February 2
Weight Loss - Fluctuated between 218.4 and 220.9 - up and down
The past week I had lost my way. It was one of my busiest weeks at work in awhile, plus rehearsal and gig for the big band, my birthday, and the super bowl. I had some good days, and I had some bad days. Lucky to say, I did not have all bad days. But the weight fluctuation, day to day, was huge based on the days i had.
Some of the high(low)lights of the week:
Birthday was rough in terms of food - everyone tries to give you food. I'm part of the birthday club at school, and each person gets a day to provide the food, and then someone else provides the food for your birthday. SOOOO, there were reeses, hersheys kisses, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, and bronwies. IT was pretty awesome. Also didn't bring lunch that day, so I had the "best of" the school caf. That night, though, surprisingly, I chose to go to BONEFISH GRILL for dinner, and had a nice chicken marsala dinner. Ended up eating better than usual for my birthday dinner!
Super Bowl day was up and down. It was good all day - went to the gym, ran a 5k in under 33 minutes! and then played racquetball. Followed it up by picking a lots of small food, and a chinese food dinner. Not a buffet, and I only ordered 1 meal this time. Often I get Chicken and Broccoli AND sweet and sour chicken, with won ton soup. INstead, I only got the C&B and the soup, BUT i didn't eat the soup. Ended up picking at other stuff all night. Definitely ate more than i exercised. Good thing I exercised! Feel good too after getting a good workout. AND I did the 5k without stopping to walk at all. Started at 5mph and built it up to 6.5, slowly and steadily. Didn't really get too tired until about 23 minutes in. (Although, it was still pretty boring.) Also, didn't drink any beer during the game. ALL WATER.
Broke the fast food ban - after 13 months. It was "birthday"gift to myself. We went on Friday because I couldn't go Thursday. I had a chicken sandwich and the smallest fries with a diet soda. Happy that I didn't supersize it, get a regular soda, or top it off with the double hamburger I usually get in addition. On Saturday night, Kristyn and I also went to McDonalds while we trudged out way through Super Bowl Boulevard. Again, had a sandwich and fries, but a regular soda this time.
There were some good meals, and good choices throughout the week. It was not a complete wash, but I am unhappy about the week I had. I vow to get back on track, starting today. Made the turkey chili yesterday, bought stuff for salad, etc, so I will get back on track.
Month 2 - plan is to get down to 210- which will put me at 20 lbs loss in the first 2 months. If I can do better, I will, but I will not be impatient about it. I lost about 10 the first month, while not being nearly perfect. Which i am happy with. If I am too "perfect" then I will end up failing and not retaining the weight loss when I am done. WIth that in mind, I have to remind myself that at this point, I have to do BETTER in month 2 if I want to lose the same amount of weight. I must work out more, eat better, have less "bad" days, etc. The more I lose, the harder and slower it will come off.
February - 28 days - 10 LBS. LETS GO.

Days 25-26-27 - I HAVE FOUND PIZZA HEAVEN!!
Here is a 3-day chunk. I will try to remember everything, but some is blurry. There were some poor choices, but there was also some good, and some VERY realistic reasons to cheat, and sometimes cheat big! Most importantly, I have continued to maintain weight, and not go backwards really, so I'm good with this.
Day 25 - Saturday, January 25, 2014
Breakfast - I'm pretty sure I did not eat breakfast. I was too excited about the event I was about to witness.
Lunch - POMPTON LAKES BAND - PIZZA SHOWDOWN!. This was like no event I have ever been to, and let me start by saying that I will, oh yes, I WILL be recreating this event at my school. It was like a dream come true. I did not really know what to expect when I got there, but i was not disappointed.
I arrived 10 minutes into the event. The line was out the door, and indoor was PACKED. Nowhere to sit, barely even anywhere to walk. Almost all of the 11 pizzerias (YES - COUNT 'EM, ELEVEN!) were already out of pizza. Pizza delivery men were coming in and out with 3, 5, 8 pies so they can serve the hundreds of people their half slice size "samples." There was sweet pizza, garlicky pizza, brick oven pizza, extra cheesy pizza, short on the sauce pizza, thin pizza, doughier pizza, crispy pizza, margherita pizza, you name it . . . . . . . it was great! Yes, I tried all 11, and yes, outside of a bit that Kristyn took out of the last 5 of mine once she was full, i ate the entire half slice of each. Sorry erveryone, even if you don't agree with this meal choice, there is NO DIET in the world that would have stopped me from doing what I did! :-) They also supplied drinks and it looked like there were light desserts, but I can not believe that anyone would bypass another slice of doughy delight to have dessert at that point. When we left, I got to the lot and told Kristyn to "give me a second, I need to calm down from this!" Stay tuned for Cresskill Band's remake of this event!
Anyway, fast forward to the evening - My Birthday party! Yes, I'm almost 33 years old, and I will continue to have a birthday party every year. WHy? Because we like to have fun, we have awesome friends, and its an excuse to have people over. I had my fair share of drinks. As far as my food intake - was not too bad:
4 sausage in a blanket
4 pig in blanket
2 buffalo chicken totino's bites
1 slice of oreo ice cream cake
I skipped the chicken fingers and pierogis later on and avoided most of the chips. I alsoforgot to have a cupcake, but don't worry, those will come later in the 3 day run :-)

Day 26 - January 26, 2014
Starting weight - a VERY dehydrated 217.6
Weight Loss to date - an inflated 12.5 LBS
Breakfast - I had 1 mini peanut butter cupcake that Beth brought last night. It was AMAZING
Lunch - actually didn't have any. This was another day of getting autographs and forgetting that There was not going to be food there. Its ok, I wasn't that hungry anyway, but i got to meet:
Reggie Jackson, Tony LaRussa, Tony Kubek, and my boyhood favorite - JOSE CANSECO. I know, he is the "godfather of steroids" and everything, but back in the day, he was my favorite. Why? Because when i was 8, on Christmas Eve, Mike got the Don Mattingly Baseball card book, and I got the Jose Canseco book. My collection grew to 132 different Jose Canseco cards (not including doubles) and the Bash Brothers were my fun team to like for a few years, as I struggled as a child with the fact that my real favorite team, the Yankees, Sucked. So yeah, there you have it, I was a yo-yo fan who liked other teams throughout my time while I waited for the Yankees to be good. I was a young child. What do you want from me?
Anyway, so I got my Jose Canseco Bat, and its AWESOME! I also forgot to smile for the camera when I met Reggie!
Snack - came home and ate something, and I cna't remember what it was, but I'm pretty sure i had a couple spoons of Rainbow Sherbet.
Dinner - Went to dinner for Heather's birthday at outback. Had a 9oz sirloin with 4 pieces of shrimp and mashed potatoes. Also had a few pieces of bread and butter. Avoided appetizers and fried foods, and also only had 2 small bites of the community dessert. Pretty good for me at a place like that! Drank lots of water!
Snack - ended up having the rest of the rainbow sherbet later while watching the Sopranos

Lunch - forgot to pack anything. had 5 chicken fingers, and a few tater tots + Diet Soda
Snack - Wheat Thins
Dinner - Pork. THat is it, I had some pork. Probably about 200 calories worth

Day 24 - January 24, 2014 - YO ELEVEN!
Its Casino Night at Cresskill High School! Gonna be a fun one . . . . but lets start from the morning . . .
Starting weight - 219.1
Weight Loss to Date - 11.1 LBS
Breakfast - had a home made breakfast sangwich - Taylor ham + Egg whites on Light Wheat Bread with Orange Juice - Trop 50
Lunch - 1/2 sandwich at Denaros - turkey, pepperoni, Yellow American. NO FRIES!
Snack - Turkey Chili - around 5pm. Needed to hold me over.
Dinner - ok, so here is where I actually kind of impressed myself. Behaved fairly well at the dinner buffet that was served. First - I would like to point out that these were little bread dishes that we were using, so realize that when i say "PLATE."
First plate had 2 dumplings, a little rice, and some chicken.
2nd plate had straight up penne vodka
3rd plate had 2 small potatoes and some steak and a little more penne vodka with cheese.
also had 2 rolls w/butter. THis part was a little unnecessary.
I think had i not been trying, I would have had about DOUBLE that amount, easily.
Also had some drinks during the evening, and also at Miller's Ale House afterwards with the teacher crew. Great times, and we closed the place out! Not bad for a bunch of teachers on a Friday night.
Side Note - no one at our table won anything at Casino Night. ARGH! But People at Kristyn's table of teachers from her school won, including Kristyn, who won a bunch of passes to Museum of Natural History and Bodies Exhibit. Had a great time though, playing craps with lot of fake money that meant nothing really! Good times!
See you tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 23 - January 23, 2014 - LEFT-OVERS!!!! WAHOO!!!!!
Starting weight - 220.4 LBS
Weight Loss to date - 9.8 LBS
Lesson of the day - Sometimes weighing yourself every day is bad and frustrating. Its not normal to lose weight every day and eventually it will slow down, and sometimes you will do well, but still gain a little - water weight, etc. Just keep doing the best you can and it will go in the right direction.
Breakfast - New omelet - 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg, peppers, eggs, taylor ham
Snack - Granola bar - got really hungry after 4 periods of teaching, and then starting the 5th in a row.
Lunch - had some chicken and turkey chili leftovers. YUM!!!!
Snack - NOTHING!
Dinner - TUrkey Chili - Still - YUM!
WOW I wanted to stop at the 7-11 on the way home - instead I grabbed a diet pepsi and it fooled me into not needing to stop!!!!!
Snack - when I got home, I needed a little something, so i had a little bit of Rainbow Sherbet and 1 Lindt Chocolate.
By the way, I thought it would be a good opportunity to share some photos of our cooking from yesterday! forgot to put them up yesterday.
This is the turkey chili - had lean ground turkey, kidney beans, black beans, Low sodium tomato soup, and lots of spices.
This is Kristyn's cilantro lime chicken, which was made in a salsa. SO GOOD!
And - My dinner from yesterday. By the way, i forgot, I had about 16 ounces of low calorie gatorade with dinner - forgot to write that. Low cal gatorade is a great alternative when you need some taste. The entire thing - 32 oz, is only like 75 calories. SOO, if you drink it over 3 servings, its not so bad!

Day 22 - January 22, 2014 - NO - SCHOOL - TIL THURSDAY!!!!!!
Starting weight - 218.9 (Thank you late morning weigh-in due to school closing!
Weight loss to date - 11.3 LBS
Breakfast -Eggs + Apple Juice
Lunch - crap - what did I eat . . . . . . . . hmmmmm, we went grocery shopping, came back and i had . . . . . . OH YEAH! Salad + 2 small pieces of chicken - grilled, and tossed in buffalo sauce with a seltzer.
Exercise - Racquetball with pete - played over 1 hour and 15 minutes. Worked my butt off. Lot of good exercise. Really enjoyed it. Plus did a little bit of shoveling
Now . . . . . . . as I said, we went to the grocery store because we decided it was time to learn how to use the crock pot. We wanted to get a few ingredients so we can work on a few new recipes. Over $100 later, we have really good food options for a week! WAHOO!
Dinner - Let's talk about this crock pot situation. They are amazing! Kristyn tried her hand at the Cilantro Lime Chicken with salsa. This was DELICIOUS. I, on the other hand, made a turkey chili and it was GLORIOUS! Leftovers for a few days are coming! SOOO, for dinner, i had a bit of both and some seltzer. One of the best meals we have had in awhile!
Snacks - i should have probably laid off a little, but we just bought so much stuff - had about a serving and a half of rainbow sherbet and 2 Lindt Chocolates.
For the record, I was so happy about these darn crock pot recipes, I can't wait to eat lunch and dinner tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to come up with some more concoctions.
See you next time!

Day 20 - January 20, 2014 - A very good day!
Starting weight - 223.4
Weight loss to date - 6.8 LBS
Breakfast - 1 whole egg + 2.5 Egg whites + apple juice and 2 slices of whole wheat toast with country crock margarine
Lunch - was eating a healthy choice meal - Beef Merlot - it was TERRIBLE. Just horrible. I like almost every one of those meals I've ever had. This one was Horrendous. I threw half of it out, drank my seltzer and had 1.5 servings of goldfish. Wow, it was disgusting and disappointing!
Snack - 2 LINDT Chocolates - I'm getting to work on my Christmas Gift Candy - very slowly. Just a little bit at a time. (I found a big cup that Kristyn got me. Saving that for a good day!!) :-)
Dinner - Salad with just lettuce, chick peas and shredded cheddar, 5 oz steak, mixed veggies + Water. This was a good meal! Really enjoyed it. Kristyn rocks for cooking it!
Exercise - I got a new racquetball partner today - in my attempt to do more cardio but not be bored as sin while doing it, I ran into an old neighbor last week at the gym, and we decided to play some racquetball. He is 10 years younger than me, and has a ton of energy. I played really well, but wow did he wear me out! Some of the best running around I've done in awhile! Played for about an hour, so let's estimate that at 900 calories burned. I'll take it!
Very excited because I am Pretty sure that I will have wiped out the whole bad weekend in 1 day. In addition, My 1st goal is 10 LBS, which is 220.2 - If I play my cards right, I could hit that by Thursday, which will be day 23. Sign me up for that!

Day 16 - January 16, 2014 - 14 hour work day . . . .
Starting weight - 222.2
Weight Loss to Date - 8 LBS
Thursday is the ultimate long day for me during this season - start at 7:35am - regular school day, then pit orchestra after school until 5:15. Little paperwork/dinner break, followed by Jazz combo at 6:45 and then jazz band from 7:30 to 9:00pm. Am I complaining or whining? no. I love all of these groups, really enjoy teaching them, and am very happy to have the opportunity to teach them! Anyway, sometimes these days are good, because you are so busy, you don't have much time to think about eating bad foods!
Breakfast - Sausage, Pepper, Egg omelet - (2 egg white, 1 whole egg) + small glass of Trop 50 OJ
Lunch - had a Healthy Choice Meal - some kind of chicken thing
Snack - about 2 servings of goldfish
Snack - Cold Cut Sandwich on light wheat bread
Dinner? After Jazz Band (9:30pm) - made my triumphant return to 7-11. Had 1 taquito (I know Ryan, I know) and 1 chicken finger, along with a slurpee. Again, I'm doing really well, so a little something isn't going to kill me.
AND NOW - - - - - - An insight to my usual trips to 7-11 before J-DOC 2014:
My eating schedule ended up weird today because i forgot to eat my salad for dinner before jazz band. I'll have it as a snack tomorrow during the day.
Doing well! And I'm looking forward to the weekend. All signs lead to this being a decent weekend for weight loss, the way it looks to be shaping up.
See ya kiddies!

Day 15 - January 15, 2014 - Ridin' Dirty in the "Stang"
Starting weight - 222.7
Weight loss to date - 7.5LBS
So here we are at the halfway point of January and I have dropped 7.5 pounds. Thinking about this pace, I would be down 15lb a month, and 45 in 3 months. No, I do not expect that pace to actually happen, BUT if I can make sure to spend more time in the gym, I can keep moving in the right direction. I haven't made it in this week yet, but I will! Its been busy week. My first goal to hit is 10 pounds . That one will mean a lot to me, because I'm doing it the right way - not with any type of food gimmick of unrealistic eating patterns. Still eating the things I like at times, just not as often, and much more home made food. And I feel great!
Breakfast - treated myself to a Egg White, Turkey Sausage Flatbread at DD. They have new flatbread bread, and its very good! Supplemented with a red bull to treat my tiredness. Not bad, considering its only my 2nd of the year, and I had been drinking one every morning before the new year.
Lunch - Home-Made chef salad, as usual.
Snack - munched on about a serving and a half of goldfish throughout the afternoon
Dinner - well, I went over to see Pirate Mom since she had her cataract surgery. Much to my delight, Marie, Jenn, and Zoe were there! But where was Karen????? Well, she was at BRUNO'S Picking up dinner for everyone. It was a great opportunity to get my ONE slice of pizza, so I got a Square Slice and drank a Sprite Zero with it. Thanks delivery girl, Karen!
And here comes the part where someone actually stopped me from eating something for the first time on this J-DOC run. I was going to have a small piece of pound cake for dessert. Karen was not sure what to do - - - - she asked if this is where she was supposed stop me from eating and I said, well that depends if you think i should not be eating it! So, short story shorter, I didn't have the pound cake.
I was going to play racquetball tonight, but my partner got a last minute call for work, so instead, its Sopranos time!!!!!
One a side note - my car, which was wrecked in an accident December 9 when i pulled out of my driveway and some idiot decided that they didn't want to slow down, is finally in the shop. Got my rental car this week and its a blast from the past! I'm back in a black Mustang - 2014 with all leather interior, power seats, and lots of nice features. Not bad for $5 a day! Thank you Plymouth ROck Teacher's Insurance.
See you tomorrow.
