Breakfast: 2 chocolate Chip Pancakes (Eggo) (180 calories total) and some potatoes. These potatoes - I basically shaved half a potato with a peeler, seasoned them with salt, pepper, onion, garlic and Frank's Red Hot and pan cooked them. They were ok. Not my favorite, but pretty good. This photo is about 1/3 of them. Kristyn and I split the plate of them.
Snack: 12-15 M&Ms
Lunch: Peanut Butter sandwich - that's all. No story for you here.
WORKOUT!!!!!!!
Let's not get too excited. I walked on my treadmill while I watched the Yankee game. Started in the bottom of the 1st and stopped 1 out into the bottom of the 3rd. Would have gone longer BUT I had to get to school to do a quick section leader audition for a kid who's going on vacation during the audition time. This marks the first time I think I've used this treadmill since we moved into Norwood 3.5 year ago! I knew I'd eventually get to it.
The walk was 40:15 long, totaled 2 miles and estimated calorie burn of 233. For those of you who think I dogged it and should have jogged or ran or worked harder . . . . I'll say this. I used to feel the same way about walking. Didn't think it was worthwhile at all. I disagree now. I have done very little physical activity since last summer. And before that, it was a few years. :-) As I've said, slow and steady wins the race. Right now, I'm starting by trying to get into good habits, actually do some physical activity and not scare myself away. My first goal here is to do long walks on the treadmill, using TV to keep me entertained. That's my hook. I'm hoping that I get hooked and then don't need that hook to keep me going, but for now, this is my plan. I want to make a first goal of a 5k (3.1 miles) in about 30 minutes. I was there at one point when I lived in Nutley. That would be about twice as fast as I went today. For today, I did sweat. My legs did feel a little sore. I did find the Yankee game helpful in getting me to keep going and I think I would have gone longer if I didn't have to go out. I HOPE this is the beginning of me doing a few weeks of walks where I build the speed slightly and increase the incline a little bit before moving up to more of a job and infusing some light work with weights.
Dinner: Teriyaki pineapple meatballs (8) with egg noodles and corn. Diet orange soda. I probably should have stopped around 5 of the little meatballs. The 8 meatballs came out to about 300 calories. These meatballs are quite good. I'm not a pineapple fan, but the meatballs are very tasty.
The egg noodles were the real problem though. Obviously, not the best option, but in moderation, no big thing. But when I put egg noodles away for leftovers, I have a habit of reaching in and eating massive handfuls of them at a speed that makes me believe that it won't count. :-) I had a little too much on the egg noodles, but still - not a bad dinner in the end.
Snack: 15 white cheddar cheezits at the fireworks.
BTW - Let me say that the Tenafly fireworks are REALLY GOOD! Seems as though they take place the Saturday after 4th of July, and they were great. We were able to see them from the Cresskill pool, as if they were actually our own personal show. Pretty awesome!
Weight Update: As of 8am on 7/9/23, I was down 0.4 from yesterday, a total of 5.8 for the first 7 days. Not a bad final count for week 1.
