Day 10, December 28, 2011
Starting Weight - 211.4
Ok . . . . . . . . . . lets get this under 210 by Friday please?
I'm gonna go see what i have in the kitchen for breakfast :-)
ok, so I'm going down to BRAD BENSON HYUNDAI to probably waste time. Before I go, i will have a quick breakfast/lunch:
1/2 of my leftover penne vodka with chicken from Bruno's. Realize that this is half of the leftovers, which was half of the meal. so i'm eating 1/4 of a meal from Bruno's. Thats pretty impressive if you ask me. Once again, not healthy necessarily, but great portion control and money saving!
This is also avoiding the typical parkway food of a supersized extra value meal from mcdonalds and double hamburger!
Dinner: Home-Made Pad Thai - THANKS KRISTYN!
Snack - 1 ferrero rochet. Just 1. I have 60 of them. I figure i'll eat maximum of 1 per day and they will last me 2 months!!! :-) Kinda a reward for a good day.
btw, Bought a new car today! Hyundai Sonata. Its pretty nice, not gonna lie. Its no Mustang, but it was time to let it go . . . . .

Day 9 - December 27, 2011
Ok, so the first 4 days of J-Doc served the purpose of giving me a buffer zone for the 4 day diet debacle that is Christmas. :-) I lost 4lbs and i gained 4lbs back.
Starting weight - 216.5
This week's goal + Plan:
Save $$ by finishing left-overs from the holidays. These are not the most healthy foods in the world but PORTION CONTROL IS THE NAME OF THE GAME THIS WEEK.
This morning/afternoon, my lunch was: 2 stuffed shells and 1.5 meatballs. This is an amazing feat, considering my normal stuffed shell intake would be AT LEAST 5 and i'd probably have had 3 meatballs. (also, these were smaller meatballs, my mom's are at least 1/3 bigger, and i would have had 3)
So as you see, the "C" in J-DOC this week (which stands for convenience) is in the form of convenient and cheap left-overs. Used properly, these left overs could potentially feed me for 3 days and save me a considerable amount of money when replacing the potential of going out for lunch and dinner.
I'm off to try to buy a car.
see you after dinner!
Dinner - well, i have not been home yet, so i figured i would go see kristyn coach her basketball game at Cresskill. i stopped at Cresskill Pizza, (I KNOW) but i only had 1 slice with sausage and a diet pepsi. pretty good for me :-)
Snack - 3 spoons (not scoops, but spoons) of moose track ice cream, 12 wheat thins and lots of jack and DIET coke.
Verderese - OUT

Ran out of eggs, Luckily we got milk last night!

Day 3 - December 21, 2011
Starting weight - 211.7 - WAHOO!!!
Breakfast - 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg, scrambled with 1 piece of taylor ham
Snack - 100 calorie pack
Lunch - low Sodium Turkey, Pepperoni, Yellow American on wheat bread, 4 strawberries
***was given two small pieces of sausage and cheese calzone from 2 different people. It was homemade by one of the lunch ladies and Don T and Don B both wouldn't take no for an answer. it was VERY good! and pretty small, but didn't want to leave it out.
Snack - Apple Juice
Dinner - was a late dinner, since i went to the Emerson Concert, which was very nice, by the way.
Kristyn had dinner waiting for me when i got home! WAHOO!
Whole Wheat pasta with sauce, breaded/baked chicken cutlet, SALAD and seltzer.
Ok, so today i was going to the mall to do Christmas shopping and on the way, I was on the phone (hope none of you are traffic cops in New Milford. I don't want to get a ticket!) ANyway, out of habit, i stopped at 7-11 because that was the obvious thing to do. Got out of the car, went in and realized that i completely was about to get a taquito, chicken finger and red bull (or gatorade.) I was like OH CRAP! I CAN'T DO THIS! I quickly stopped myself and went for an apple juice to hold me over until dinner. Still some sugar, but still a better choice.

December 20, 2011 - Day 2
Starting weight - 216.5
I know, i GAINED weight yesterday. It was undoubtedly from 2 things:
1) obviously the night out at Grants (not only the food, but i was very dehydrated and drank a TON of water there)
2) the fact that on Sunday, i ate all my food before 3pm and then had nothing to eat and barely to drink for the rest of the day, making my monday morning weight prob a little low.
Regardless, not great day, but i definitely definitely definitely feel better already!
STARTING MY GALLON OF WATER TODAY! LET'S SEE HOW IT GOES!!!
Breakfast - 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg scrambled + a slice of taylor ham. 1 glass of orange juice.
Lunch - 1/2 sandwich of roast beef on wheat bread, 1 piece of cheese, skinny cow ice cream sandwich and 3 strawberries.
Snack - 100 calorie pack chip deluxe
Dinner - Grilled chicken on a roll with a little buffalo sauce, a few of Scott's Nathan's Fries.
Now, I must say, i was VERY good tonight, considering I went to the Devils game and Scott bought dinner! I would normally have gotten the chicken fingers and nathan's fries with a Sprite, followed by a carvel ice cream in a waffle cone.
I will check in again in the morning with my weight, but I will tell you right off the bat that I am already down below Monday's start weight, and its the end of the day!
I almost finished my gallon of water. Will have a little more before I go to bed, and i have to remember that i drank a 20 oz water at the game, so i can subtract that from my gallon for the day. I think i finished it! WAHOO!!!! ***WORD TO THE WISE*** If you think you are hungry, drink a bottle of water. You will realize that you were not really hungry! If you are still
hungry, then eat!
Don't worry, I will get more fruits and veggies in the diet once i get a chance to really get rolling. For now, i have a few things, will try to find more, and will continue to focus on PORTION CONTROL, which is my biggest problem. Must eat enough for just one person, not an entire family!
SEE YOU TOMORROW!! Thanks for following.

Day 1 - December 19, 2011
Starting weight - 215.3
Breakfast - 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg, scrambled with 1 piece of taylor ham, 1 bottle of water
Lunch - Grilled Chicken on Rye Bread. (dry), 1 bottle of diet sprite. (I know i need to do more water, they just didn't have full gallons there, so i have to go get some for myself.)
Snack - Granola Bar
Dinner - Turkey (low sodium) Pepperoni and Yellow american on Wheat bread. with skinny cow ice cream sandwich and 100 cal pack. (i know, 2 snacks, but i am REALLY hungry and i have a concert in 1 hour, so i can't be feeling sick due to a typical 1st day of diet weakness)
Snack - ok so its not how day 1 should have ended but i still take to the grave that it was better than it woudl have been. Had to go to Grant's after concert, since the one teacher who helped out wanted to go. Tried getting just a bowl of ice cream, had none. Tried getting a soup, had none. Ended up with the chili with some chips. of course Kristyn had wings and i had 3 of them (small) and Steve got a sandwich and tried to give me his fries. I only ate about 1/3 of them, but still. Had a TON of water too. Gotta try to avoid these, but again, if you knew what i usually would have eaten there, you'd know this was not tooooooo bad.
What I WOULD have done today that I avoided:
Breakfast - had to swerve back onto the road instead of picking up 2 glazed donuts at 7-11 and a red bull.
Lunch - most likely a buffalo chicken cheesesteak at Cresskill Deli. When i ordered my grilled chicken on rye, she said "are you on a diet or something? We'll see tomorrow when you order a large #6." I guess its that obvious with me! hahahaha
Dinner - Cresskill Pizza - buffalo chicken slice, another slice, garlic knots and apple juice.
Snack at Grants - 5 meat bar pie with buffalo sauce and 2-3 beers
Breakfast - 2 egg whites, 1 whole egg, scrambled with 1 piece of taylor ham, 1 bottle of water
Lunch - Grilled Chicken on Rye Bread. (dry), 1 bottle of diet sprite. (I know i need to do more water, they just didn't have full gallons there, so i have to go get some for myself.)

IT'S BAAAACCCCCKKKK!!!!!!!!
hey everyone! I'm back and fatter - - - - i mean BETTER than ever! :-) Its time for another shot at the J-Doc Monoblogs. I have slipped into an overeating oblivion, most notably this weekend with a Christmas Party, date nite with Kristyn, and another great Giants Tailgate. (notice I didn't say great giants GAME, because THAT was a joke!)
Just to give an idea of yesterday's disgrace - i had a 3 alarm fire bratwurst, a hamburger with taylor ham, a bacon cheeseburger bratwurst and a cheesesteak, as well as about 4 munchkins and a chocolate chip cookie. That was all before 3:30pm yesterday, and then i slipped into a food coma which I finally came out of this morning. Needless to say, its time for a change!
Anyway, Its time to get back on track and stop being a moron. My first round of Blogging a few years ago led to a 28 pound weight loss, from 221 down to 193. I have grown back up to 215 and am ready to knock this out. Its not a new year's resolution, since I am starting it now. I want to try to avoid using the Holidays as an excuse. SOOOOOO, for all of you who had been following and enjoying, here we do again! its the "Joe's Diet Of Convenience Mono-Blog" BACK AGAIN!!!!!!!!
See you soon!!!!

was going to go to Gym tonight, and then realized that I had to go do some Bachelor Party planning! Oh well, BUT I did turn down going to Sharkey's which means probably about 3 beers and 9 mozzarella sticks. I also avoided the chicken fingers at lunch today, like they were the plague!
***On a side note, its very interesting how much money you can save by eating well and eating at home! Yesterday, I spent a grand total of $8. This was to purchase Orange Juice, Water and the really low calorie gatorade. Today I spent $15, on gas for my car! Of course, I still have some stock leftover from my old trips to the supermarket, but still, if I can spend like $100 a week on groceries and then not eat out all the time, I will be rich!!!!! I know this is not any kind of miraculous realization, but its a reality that often we don't think about.
Breakfast - Granola Bar and OJ
Snack - 100 calorie pack
Lunch - turkey, pepperoni, yellow american cheese on flat roll
snack - raw almonds
snack - 100 calorie pack
For the record - - - - I feel really good today! I don't understand why i can't just eat better and exercise all the time!
dinner - turkey chili with reduced fat wheat thins
snack - 100 calorie pack pringles
night snack - 1/2 serving of no-fat ice cream.

January 3, 2011 - day 1
Starting weight - sit down for this . . . . . . 203
Breakfast - Well let me tell you, today did not start off very well. I got up, snoozed it 4 times, and left the house unable to find my jacket! I then froze my ass off on the way to work and got to Dunkin' Donuts, when i realized that i am wearing a maroon-ish shirt, but wore a red and black tie. You know me, I can't stand for that . . . . so first day back, extra fat gut, and no tie! THEN, I tried to get my first "better" meal of the newest version of J-Doc, and their machine is broken and they won't accept my gift card. now many of you are saying, Dunkin Donuts? Healthy? WELL . . . . . how about the Turkey Sausage Egg White Flatbread? MWAHAHAHAHA! but its only 6 weight watchers points, so BACK OFF, BUCKOS!!!! (for those who are not knowledgable to WW, I am generally allowed 30-36 points per day, so 6 points is 17-20% of my daily value. Decent for breakfast.) Other nutrition facts include 280 calories and 6 grams of fat. Regardless, I didn't get to eat.
Fast forward to 2nd period. . . . . . My good buddies Jason Timochko and Shane Kress were taking their morning drive to Dunkin, and they picked me up my 6 point flatbread and I lived Happily Ever After.
Lunch - Flat roll with turkey, pepperoni and yellow american with 2 small gingerbread cookies
Snack - Granola Bar (90 calories)
snack - raw almonds
Dinner - Turkey Chili (Delicious!) made by Karen for New Year's. She was nice enough to give me leftovers! along with reduced fat wheat thins. Orange juice was the drink, since its all i had in the house!
GYM!!! 18 sets - upper body. 400 abs, 10 minutes elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike.
Not a bad first day back. I avoided the major 1st day of diet headache i usually get, which is good! Lets see what happens tomorrow!!!!!!

Happy New Year - and Happy New Blog!!!!!
Forgive me followers, for I have sinned. It has been almost three months since my last blog. In that time, I have been basically the ANTI-J-DOC. I have gained back 12 of the 28 pounds I lost, eaten everything in sight, and had exactly ZERO in the willpower area. It is time to get back on track and you are all welcome to help me.
I will quote one of the great homerun hitters in baseball's history and say, "I am not here to talk about the past." I am only here to work on today and tomorrow, so keep me honest! Below I have re-posted the J-Doc official rules.
The Holiday season was a ROUGH ONE, and by holiday season, I mean ever since marching band started! haha. Some people have made small comments to me, and we laughed them off, but this time I want you to physically hit me if you try to help me and I ignore you. Literally inflict pain on me. (not in the face, cuz I need to play trombone) but you can hit me if I ignore you. Have fun with this one!!!
Re-Posting of the J-Doc Monoblogs Rules
I sometimes lack some of the willpower to make good choices! For those of you who are reading this, its time for me to give up the excuses! I will do my part to the best of my ability, but when i falter, You have full permission to destroy me for it. Call me out. Yell at me!
MY JOBS:
- STOP SUCKING AT LIFE!!! (My diet life, that is. Let's be honest, I'm AWESOME at the rest of life) :-D
- Go to grocery store and keep stocked of good, healthy foods
- take the time to cook instead of grabbing fast food/etc
- continue to hit the gym for lifting AND cardio
- Stop making excuses and start making right choices
- Follow the rules I created (below)
- NEVER LIE to my people who are following the blog. I will not, I promise. That would defeat the purpose.
- Let me know if you are actually following this. The more who follow, the more apt I am to do well!
- If you are out with me, do not push me to eat more than I order
- Do not offer me your leftovers
- If you are out with me, you are welcome to question my choices of food and remind me that I have to make better choices!
- If we are out, and I am not drinking, deal with it and realize that I am fun as hell, regardless of whether or not I am drinking. Look at it this way, i can be the DD if I'm not drinking! This is an especially big one because over the past month, I have been to many bars with many people, and have drank countless glasses of water. Although some people are cool with it, many others spend too much time making me explain myself and then try to convince me to do otherwise. We are not 17. There is no peer pressure to drink. You have your beer, and I'll have my water if i choose!
- Yell at me if you see me making bad choices. I really don't want people to tell me I'm doing poorly, so if you do, it will motivate me to do better!!!
**I do not want to "Diet" in an unrealistic way. i want to try to do something i can keep up with for an extended period of time (forever). This means that I will not be forcing myself to not eat things, I just need to limit how much i have and how often i have it.
- Pizza: Pizza is fine. 1 slice. With or without toppings, and not more than once a day. I should not have any appetizers with that. Just the one slice.
- Soda: Diet only, and only if necessary.
- Water: 1 gallon a day is the best. Its tough in the heat because the gallon gets REALLY warm, but try my best
- Breakfast Sandwiches: 1-2 a week is ok, even with the Taylor Ham, BUT no bagels. Wheat toast please! And egg whites if possible
- Beer: Keep it to light if possible. if its at someone's house, the bud lite select 55 calorie beer is the choice.
- Breakfast in General: Fruit Smoothies would be the best, egg whites, Cheerios with skim milk. Breakfast should be prepared at home. No excuses. There is no need to buy breakfast, since it usually ends up being unhealthy.
- Evening: No late night eating. All attempts should be made to eat the last meal by 8pm and the last small snack before 9:30. TGI Fridays, Applebees, 1/2 price apps are a NO-NO. I can go, but I do not eat/drink. Stick to Water. (Maybe a salad?) I can hang out, but don't let me order my triple chocolate meltdown, boneless buffalo wings, crap like that.
- Snacking: 100 calorie packs are good because they are small and tasty. Salads at home are awesome, fruits veggies, etc. I always have them in the house, so I need to eat them!
- Frequency: I should be eating frequently and small portions. This will keep me from eating huge meals!
- Vacations/parties: SOMEHOW, i need to keep it contained on vacations and at parties. Limit the ridiculousness of larger/fun events. This is currently my worst.
- Buffets: not allowed! Under any circumstance. I will allow myself a buffet for every 10 pounds I lose, although I don't necessarily HAVE to go.
